New Food Mill...No instructions!!

Hi,

I just got a food mill, a Foley type and am not sure of the best way to process tomatoes. The tomatoes are being used to make a sauce base that will be processed in a BWB (Nothing added...just reduced tomatoes). From prior posts, some seem to chop the maters, heat, and then run through the mill. Others seem to just remove the core and send through raw. Also, all the sauce recipes I have say to remove the skins by blanching. I assume this isn't neccesary if you use a food mill?

Sorry if this is obvious stuff, but I don't know anyone else who cans and am STILL waitng for Ball to send me the Blue Book I ordered. I just don't want to do anything that might cause a problem.
