Oh Kay, more daylilies. Were are you going to put them? I guess it's time to shovel prune some more LOL! Goals are great in the garden. I usually have a mental list of what I want to get done in the garden each day and usually I do get at least some of it done each day. That way the work does eventually get done. You have gotten much acomplished, you should be pleased as you work hard.

I do well when I have a plan. I don't know why I don't do it more. Now the important info, what daylilies did you get:)

As I get older I,m finding I need a list as well as a goal. The list to remind me exactly what I need to get done to get to the goal. Without the list I find I work my bottom off all day and look back and cann,t say that I actually got anything finished.

I have always cooked by a list broken doen into the few days prior to a big holiday meal. I am finding I achieve more if I do that in the garden as well.

I totally agree with you Kay. As I have so many different priorities (most of them I created) these days than I did when I was raising my daughter, I find the only way I can stay on top of everything is to break it down into sections. I have so much that must be done on a daily basis that it is sometimes difficult to get anything extra done. My days are pretty full especially if I have new plants coming in or puppies. I find with the garden and yard that if I break it down into one garden or area at a time, then I don't get behind. Big problem this year is that last year was a write off with my health so I have been playing catch up all year! My peonies got the bad end of the stick this year. Good thing they are established. :)

And I just got 3 more daylilies today plus about 20 heucheras. Good thing I got a few garden helpers!

The heat has really interfered with me this year, but since I am just weeks from retirement, all excuses are about to be off. I have quite a few daylilies coming this year. We are supposed to have a couple of decent days next week, so maybe I'll get more done. I did fairly well this week, but I could have done more.

I can relate to "quite a few" daylilies. I seem to go crazy with my newest addiction then taper off as I get a good collection going. This year it has been daylilies and heucheras on which I have spent an exorbitant amount of money! My iris addiction is a constant. This year I added somewhere in the neighbourhood of 150 I think.

I retired about 12 years ago for health reasons and have more work now than when I was working. Most of it fun work though! Now I am a stay at home mom to everything green or furbearing! Next litter will be in the winter..... I've learned 2 very important things in those years. 1) Only do what is a priority in your world and 2) Keep your expectations of yourself to a minimum. You are your own worst judge cause no one else REALLY cares! :)

Kay - It sounds like you are getting a lot accomplished. None of my garden goals or plans are being realized now because my job is taking pretty much all of my time. I've been working until 6 or 7 most nights and have gone in on Saturday and Sunday the last three weekends. With major changes to the way we plan and teach at school, and a new principal who wants more than I can do during work hours, all my time is spent at school. The garden is falling to the wayside. I hate that grass and weeds are quickly taking over. I have managed to water a bit each day in the early mornings and late evenings.

Kay: I've done the same thing and not let the garden and our projects overwhelm me. We took a much needed break and now we are back and feeling like we can get alot accomplished even if the clock is ticking away to the first frost. Plants are due to arrive this week and I think I'm ahead of the rush. At least I think I am.LOL.
