Welcome all to Girls with Goals for 09/24 - 09/30!

Join other Quilters setting goals here for this week.

Get support and encouragement and have some fun getting those UFO's and WIP's done.

My first goal will be to make sure that the Mission Accomplish thread is there for this week.

Other goals are to get a picture posted of my finished baby blanket, finish the Teddy Bear and

post the picture and put another piece of fabric up for adoption.

My goal is pretty patheticÂheehee. My goal is to go to the Laundromat this week. I finished clipping a rag quilt over two weeks ago and itÂs just sitting here saying "wash me, wash me!" I don't want to wash it at home, (too many threads). I really like the way it came out and IÂd like to start using it. I canÂt wait to see it all frayed, and the Laundromat is close by, so whatÂs my deal? Thanks for the Girls with Goals. IÂve watched but havenÂt participated until now. I know that every time I walk by the quilt now IÂll remember I officially committed to get it done this week.

My goal is to get the pieced border for my QAYG quilt done. I think that will be enough to keep me busy for the week.

Good Morning, Wish I was camping with Ekl. I bet she would really push me with that paddle. Reminds me of the time year before last when DH and I were camping and decided to float/paddle down the river. About halfway through, the sky blackened and I could hear thunder in the distance. I am terrified of lightening, especially anywhere near the water. Have had, locally, on 2 separate occasions in the last few years, a young boy struck and killed by lightening, near water. I grabbed the paddle and let me tell you I had an upper body workout that day! I think DH got a real kick out of watching me kill myself trying to get down river and off of the water before the storm hit. It wasn't a bit funny to me. Thank God, the storm turned and didn't hit us. I never could have out paddled it as far upriver as we were. SS, Thanks for the vote for the award. But remember, I only lost 5 lbs last week. The other 2 were from the weeks before. I've also found a big difference in weight with different times of day, different clothes, and after meals. I only go by 1st thing in the morning weight in my nightgown. Counting calories would be too hard for me. I am so lazy. I have found it easier to just forget the bun completely at BK and have the meat in a dish with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. I have to have my mayo. I've never been big on bread anyway. Lots of meals I cook I just forget to fix any bread. Drives DH crazy because he feels he has to have it. But, he will settle for WW sliced bread with butter spread on it when I forget! Harold, How are those eyes doing? Can you see us yet?!?! Sorry we are confusing you with the multiple weigh-in days. Weekends aren't good to me, so it is best to have a day to get back on track before posting an official weight. 48 lbs lost! WOW! Such tenacity! If I can hang in, that would put me right around my goal weight. I shall set my sights there. Peg, 3 lbs! Great job! I can't wait to get below DH in weight. I HATE HATE HATE weighing more than him. That's why I get discouraged when I only lose 1 lb a week now. I think he hangs around high 150s -low 160s. Once I get below him I will be ok with "slow and steady wins the race". Can y'all tell I'm from the "I WANT IT NOW" generation? That's how I got so large. I wanted those 2 big bowls of chocolate ice cream everyday while I forgot veggies and exercise. Now I'm paying for it. Those chest pains were my gift from God to wake me up. It worked! Karen, I'm glad you held steady while being sick. Are you feeling better? I bet you are weak as a puppy. Take it easy 'till you get some strength back. I know what you mean about night snacking. DH eats stuff every night after we get in bed. Can't fall asleep because of all of that eating noise on the other side of my bed! Some nights it's peanut butter crackers, others it's 2 peanut butter sandwiches, chips & dip, whatever he can find in the kitchen. If I can't resist, I will do celery with a very little PB, or 15 or so pistachios (sp?) shelled and eaten very slowly while he pigs out. I try to resist "Roseanne" that is giving Silver such a hard time!!! Helen, Everybody needs some fun with friends occasionally. And to still lose a pound, how sweet it is! Jas, About the WW. If it helps you get where you are going sooner, it is worth the $8 weekly. I did WW for a while once. My meeting was about 40 miles from home, so I quit going. Being right at work would really help you. My friend does it and it has helped her. It's just about finding what works best for you. If you have friends who are doing it at work with you, that would really help you stick to your diet. Nothing like having that up close and personal encouragement. If it would still be you working alone and you can get yourself kick-started, Save the $8 to use at the grocery store on healthier foods and spend the time you would spend at the meetings working out, walking, etc. Check in here more often for encouragement and our tried and true diet tips that have worked for us. Good afternoon! It's 91 F. and sunny here in SE Texas. Where did our "Spring" go??? Everybody has been so busy this week! I'm impressed with those of you who have stayed on your eating plan, worked out regularly, and are feeling positive about things. That's the kind of incentive and motivation I like! I attended our community center's Mother's Day luncheon today. We had a style show first, clothes from Palais Royal, then a lovely high tea/luncheon. Very much "lady foods", but it was all scrumptious! Today I sat with a table of people I've met briefly during this past year, so I had a chance to get to know them much better today. I was the "baby" at the table at 61, and the oldest one was 93. Most of the other 6 women were in their high 70's and 80's. These women are very active in the community and never seem to slow down. They are such an inspiration to me. Tonight I'm going to spend the evening with our friend Susanne helping her get things ready for our ESA state convention next week. I had promised her when Larry was so sick that I would go with her to this if he wasn't up to it, and I will. I'll be staying at night with my son and DDIL while in Dallas, and that will be the only time I'll get to see them while there, but it's better than nothing! Dee, I hope they don't dump too much extra work onto you. Time for another cruise, isn't it? LOL I'm going to see my granddaughters and son and DDIL tomorrow after cohosting a youth banjo concert at our church. Pray for me in the morning because I have to bake 5 dozen chocolate chip cookies!!!!! The doorbell just rang, and it was FedEx with a gift from oldest Dson and DDIL - 3 living, blooming African violets and a wooden collector's box. My DDIL really knows me well and Dson always trusts her taste. If I don't get a chance to post tomorrow or Sunday, I wish everyone here a Happy Mother's Day, whether you're a bio-mom, stepmom, or furbaby mom!

I am in awe of the miniatures! Wow ~~~ ms meow - I imagine these take much patience and a steady hand to work on these. I just reread my March 14th post - didn't even think I posted in March goals- good thing, because I was thinking I did not accomplish goals - but I did way more sewing than I thought I did! Yippee - In addition I also: Made April's B'day block - need to mail. I made 2 D9P Tops (is that the correct reference?): Qof V - needs border - I found an appropriate, soft backing - bought it and got it washed. The other D9P for a little girl (great niece) also needs border. I see why the D9P are the go - to for fast tops. I spent more time shopping for the fabric than actual sewing. I also used both these 'oh so easy tops' to use the tips I read in Sally Collins' book on Precision Piecing - the simplicity and basic D9P are perfect to practice her techniques & tips and establish good habits for perfect matching and points. Yes - perfection is always a goal for me - makes me happy :) I really want to explore the different layouts (Sharon - a long time ago, I bookmarked your Butterfly D9P before I 'knew' you - I was cleaning up my bookmarks /computer and opened your pic & album & thought this all looks familiar ~LOL~ and it was yours!! I said outloud "I know her!!!! DH is saying Who? what are you talking about???) I still have tomorrow to make March's BOM -PP .....maybe - I have 2 sections made, if not - it is like housework it will wait for me~LOL

My goal is to remove the borders on Candace's quilt and get the fabric cut for another quilt-actually 2 quilts-one for each of my twin nephews,Nick and Noah.The quilts will be the same pattern- a half-square triangle design( getting those done and squared up is the biggest job), but 2 different colors-a blue and a green. I'm making quilts for all the younger nieces and nephews. Wish me luck....Geraldine

My goals are:-
- to pin and quilt my teddies quilt and pinwheel quilt and bind them. I'll be glad to finally finish them.
- to make a dipe and wipe case for myself for the days when I mind my sister's baby.
- to make place mats for my friend Helena
- to load the pics of the stuff I've finished on the computer

My goal is to finish the PaB I-spy, provided that the squares come in the next day or two. If they don't, no problem: I will have the goal of finishing the second row of blocks and sashing for the "green tea" pattern quilt I am making with a "fishy" batik print and beige and blue fabrics. I couldn't find out where this pattern came from; just saw a picture of a quilt someone had made by that name and loved it and copied it.

My goals for this week...
-Make a set of sheets (this project is cluttering up my quilting area)
-Deal with a bag of fleece that is also cluttering up my quilting area
-Finish up another UFO

This week, I want to:

-Finish washing all the new fabric I bought while I was up north......
-Get at least 2 or 3 rows put together on a Row By Row I've been working on......
-Make a few dark Friendship Star blocks for said Row By Row (now that I have an idea of how I want to finish it!)......
-Decide what the last border will be on a Butterfly Jar quilt that's been waiting for a few months......

First Goal: Read the dates on posts closer, I posted on the wrong thread what I had finished! Sorry, I'm 50 now and apparently can't read. heheheh

Other than working with DGS on his I-Spy I doubt that I'll get much done, and that only if I can get Nellie Girl working again.

my goal for this week, finish putting together my moms quilt the rest of the boarders for the top and make the back. put it on the pile for my friends quiltting machine. thats mon and maybe part of thurs. on tue will go to my moms and make baby blankets and bibs, and two big panels but do like a baby quilt for boys to play cars with. the other days better finish house and do laundry guess thats wen.

This week...

- My big goal for this week, is to clean off my dining room table. It is covered with quilt related stuff. Actually my dinning room has fabric and such strewn all over. I need to take control!

- Hand quilt at least 1 hour each day.

My goals are the same as last week...

Sew some blocks for the king size bed quilt. Finish cutting out the fg's. Work more on the GFG top.

For the past week, my knitting needles and crochet hooks are trying to pull me away from my quilting goals. I haven't picked up any yarn yet, but they are nagging me to make something. I told myself that I had to finish the GFG top first :).

- prewash (more) recently-purchased fabric.
- spend time with neighbor's daughter choosing I-Spy squares for her own quilt project.
- setup sewing workspace in the basement

I thought I already did this but maybe got the wrong thread.

I will finish quilting and bind my kaleidoscope panel in preparation for posting October lesson. Pictures need to be organized.

If I get all that done, I'll start the borders on the two panels for front hall - pictures of that later on.
