Rita, Beautiful! I'm wondering if that is rebloom on HEARTS OF FIRE? The reason I ask is that it doesn't bloom late here. You know, I never would've planted it next to red roses...but it looks really good! I think it may be my favorite row in your yard...either that or the round planters with roses in the front. Don't you love HOF's scapes? I think they are just right...strong and tall but not too tall. All my late bloomers are finished, but I'm still getting a few reblooms. ORANGUTAN and BITTERSWEET HOLIDAY are both reblooming today.

This feels like "Where's Waldo," but do you know the name of the cultivar roughly in the center of the first pic (tall and purple)?

Kathy, HEARTS OF FIRE never reblooms for me. But it really puts on a stunner of a show blooming for a very long time. There is not much left. If you look closely there are hardly any buds so it will be about done after todays blooms. I figgered I had better get a last picture while I still could.

I planted it there as I was looking for a tall red to go with the red roses. It never disapoints. I love it.

Chris, I should take pictures of some of my other sorry daylily beds with no (hardly any) blooms. But this was what I had in mind when I started on late and extra late bloomers. I wanted some thing still going on long after common daylily season is done.

Lighter shorter purple smack dab in the middle of first picture FOUNTAIN OF LIFE. Taller dark purple middlish with a crown of three yellow daylilies just over its head RICH In MERCY. Both are Emmerich intros. Both blooming on instant rebloom scapes. In that first shot, everything in front of RICH IN MERCY are not late season bloomers. The late and extra lates start in back of there.

Those are some stunning pictures! What a beautiful yard you have, all lit up with sunny colors. You have done a wonderful job in selecting those lates to extend your season. And I am jealous that you don't have any japanese beetles so that you can enjoy your roses all summer.
In the 6th photo, what is the pale yellow, toothy one? And in photo 4, what is the dl at the bottom of the picture? I like those a lot.

Celeste- Forth picture is August Sunset with LAST MAN STANDING there at the bottom. It is an extra late as only recently started blooming. A great choice for a season extender. The toothy yellow is JOY TO THE WORLD.

These are just beautiful landscape shots. I think Hearts of Fire is very favorite. It must bloom for a long time! I miss my blooms. Only five had flowers today. Even my lates, except for four, have called it quits

Debra- I am always sorry to see your season end as I love your beautiful daylily pictures. HEARTS OF FIRE does bloom for a very long time, I wish I had thought to mark down when it started. It is about done now but what a show it put out while it was blooming.

Wonderful shots of your garden, Rita. Looks like it would be the beginning of the season instead of late. I have about a dozen still blooming, but all but reblooms on S. David Kirchoff & Wedding Gown will be finished within a day or so.

Nancy- I really will have to get some shots of afew of the other beds to illustrate the difference. Those are done while this section and afew others (all late season beds) are going strong. We all just hate it when bloom season ends.

Amazing! It's so colorful. I don't know what picture is my favorite view, the first five especially as I love the colors together!
Approximately half of mine are still blooming, but as you mentioned on the other thread your season started earlier too.

Lots of color Rita. All that work paid off and you should be very proud of your garden.

I'm just glad at this point to be able to get the bearded iris dug up, divided and all the extras shipped out of here.

Wonderful clump shots. But you have been fortunate in terms of weather for the past week. Looking at the temps for the city of New York in the past week (I suspect you are a bit cooler), I see 91 as the highest temp and most days low-to- mid-eighties. You have not had day after day in the mid-nineties, as we have had under this heat dome. Everything gets scorched, and it is hardly pleasant to view the garden in those conditions. With both early and late bloomers, one takes risks. In terms of early bloomers, sometimes the nights are too cold, and things don't open well. In terms of lates, one can get scorching heat; or one can get in August some nights that are too cold.

I love all the reds (surprising, huh?) Bold Witness is a beauty and August Sunset would tempt anyone to plant some lates.

It looks like your area may be a little stormy this evening, but the daylilies will love it. I will be watering tomorrow.

Oklahoma has the unbearable heat however, and has had it all summer, and we are supposed to be hot in August so today's 98 is normas, and I haven't been in it at all.

nat- You know I like lots of color so I have lots of colorful ones mixed in.

Julia- I have to dig and divide my Tall Bearded iris too but I haven't even started yet.

mantis- The weather has been really good this past week and not too hot to work out in the garden. I have gotten lots of weeding and mulching done. Not that I am finished. But we hardly get night time temps that are too cold for the daylilies. As long as the humidity is not high (as it is usually) I don't mind anything up to 95 and don't consider it too hot. But we are often very humid here on Long Island and the humidity raises the heat index. Don't matter, have to live with it. As long as we get plenty of rain then things are good.

Kay- I hope my blooms last as I love to post pictures. As to you loveing the reds and hot colors, I am not at all surprised.

I wish your heat down south and in the lower midwest would break and the rain would come. There was lots of rumbleing around here and you could hear the thunder but most of it stayed away and we only got some light rain.

What some beauties you have blooming.Your pictures are fabuleous today. Looking at your first picture,I seen them REDS way off to the right and I thought they were HEARTS OF FIRE, so I was happy when you said thats what it was, mixed with the red roses.That is really beautiful.Wish my blooms looked just half that good right now.I make sure every day that my plants have enough water, but,I have a bunch that is burnt to a crisp.One of my KNOCK OUT roses is one,and I am hoping I dont lose it.Now, marigolds can take any thing, but, today I have a bunch of them,thats burnt to a crisp also.That HARLANS PRIDE is a beauty.I really like that one,and APACHE WAR DANCE is beautiful.I also think END OF SEASON is a beauty, too, and my favorite of them is HEARTS OF FIRE.I just love all of these Reds today. I had a bloom on CHINA BRIDE again today and FIERY MOMENT too, but, the heat really melted it today.Got up to 104 today and felt like 110, weather channel said.Suppose to get hotter the rest of the week.

You do have a nice group of daylilies in that section of your gardens. Just great pics of the garden, I like to see the groups that you have blooming. Still really like Bold Witness.

Linda- Not all areas of the garden look as good as this part. Lots of bloomed out areas.

Jean- HEARTS OF FIRE really outdid itself looking extra great this year. It has always done really well in my garden.

Ellie- I love my roses just like I love the daylilies.

Cindy- It has worked out really well with those back sections being the late bloomers. BOLD WITNESS had the nice triple blooms so I just had to take a picture.
