Wow! I just placed a large order (I think it is large- over $100) with Maryott's. I hope I get as good of bonuses as you did. I think the special when I ordered was Mexican Magic but today it is Party Pinwheel. I wish I would've waited one day. I would much rather have PP.

Congratulations Jackie_O! It is like Christmas, isn't it?? In the past, I have been amazed at the size of the box that came... and just like you say - the plants just seem to keep coming out. Kind of like Mary Poppin's carpet bag.

I have an order coming for fall. After ordering from them in the past, I will continue to order every year. Great plants, great people.

Jennie - the Maryott's are VERY nice. If you call them, they might be able to work something out with your promo plant.

I also received my order from them yesterday. And I am as thrilled as Jackie!!! This is my first Daylilies order. I order a lot of other plants online though. This one is one of the best orders I ever received. I also got Pandora's Treasure as a bonus!!! My order was about $180 including shipping. I also got both special bonuses (How Beautiful Heaven Must Be and BERRY CHEESECAKE). Fantastic healthy plants, some of the divisions have more than 2 fans. All bonuses are from my wish list! I am so grateful!

Jennie, Party Pinwheel is offered for orders $100 or more. Mexican Magic was for orders $50+. If your order was more then $100, you can call them and ask to change the bonus. Alternatively, you can add more plants to your order to make it eligible for this bonus. That is what I did to receive a second special bonus.

I will not be able to plant all these rhizomes this weekend. I also want to send one of the bonus plants to my friend in Chicago. Can anyone tell me what would be the best way to store rizhomes for several day (or weeks)? Pot them up?

Oh my goodness! I am so tickled. I took your advice and called. What great customer service they have. Maryott's rocks! So they changed my bonus to party pinwheel. Yipee! Thanks so much for suggesting that.

I too got my order today, very pleased! Nice roots, 2-4 fans a bunch, just all around good healthy looking plants. I received Berry Cheesecake, Pandoras Treasure, Tic Tac Toe, and Golden Honey as bonuses. I hope they will do ok, as they are all evergreens. I will just have to mulch, mulch, mulch.

Jennie - glad you got what you wanted... they are just really the best with their customer service.

Alina - daylilies don't really have rhizomes - they are refered to by their parts, which are roots and crown (leaves, scapes and flowers of course too). If you are going to send them to your friend in a couple of days, you can probably keep the roots (not the crown area) in a bowl of water. I would change the water daily. If it is going to be a few weeks, then I would say you should pot them, so they can get the stuff they need from the soil, and you lessen the chance of rot. I find the quicker I plant them, the quicker the recovery (even if it is in a pot).

BTW, Ditch Daylily (Hemerocallis Fulva) does have rhizomes. Darn thing is so invasive! It started to break the asphalt driveway when I finally decided to remove it completely. Sorry for OT...

That was my first experience with Daylilies :o) Hope these Maryott's babies will do better for me.

True, true... ditch lilies are different. These new ones will multiply, but not like that!! :o)

Maryott's is super. My first order, he sent me two bonus plants as well as the May Ying that was the special, and I couldn't believe it. And those daylilies are doing so wonderfully well. Those big fans they send are super.

I have added to my order repeatedly during his specials and have requested September delivery, so I have no idea what he will send as bonus, but the philosophy must be to do more than your customers can even imagine.

I love Maryotts.

I've been buying from Maryott's for several years now. I start "building" my order in the early spring and add to it all along, especially once he starts the specials, but I request that I be the last shipment he sends out because I don't like to start planting until Oct. if possible. I so am tempted to get Soul on Fire...it is such a beauty. I already have a LOT coming. I am getting several of the ones you are getting, and some others too...and some special ones that you know about. I love Maryott's.

Kay- You should get it. Its a beautiful flower and you will get twice as many fans from Maryotts than you would get directly from Springwood Gardens.

If anyone at Marryotts ever read this thread they would be tickled pink. What great praise. You can't buy that kind of business. Got me to buy instead of the auction. Guess their kindness is paying off.

I was just wandering through the forum and came upon your post. You mentioned Rock Bottom Farms. I live about 30 minutes from there and just found out about it two weeks ago. Have you purchased there for a while? I came away with 20 beautiful plants and would love to head back before they close the farm and sell the property. As for Crintonics, are all there plants in the $100.00 range or are there more affordable choices? Thanks for any help you can give.

I've been out there a few times (I'm about 45 minutes away) and last year took my garden club out there and they loved it.
I'm sooooo bummed to hear they are closing.

Crintonics is close to me - about 15 minutes away. Curt is very friendly and likes to talk. I went there for a specific daylily and got it for a much better price than I'd seen anywhere else. I think you would enjoy seeing his garden and talking to him and you could always call ahead and ask him if he's selling any (not his new intros, but maybe extras of older daylilies or seedlings he's not going to use) for under $20.

Rita, I did order Soul on Fire along with the Betty Ford. My order will be like Christmas in September. It is my birthday, so that's a good enough excuse.

Don't look now, but Pirate King is the special. I LOVE it! It is a beautiful purple with a watermark...and only a $50 order to get it. Don't expect to be strong for this one.

carefreeplants- I see that you have the right attitude. Just buy the daylilies and then one pretty much just has to make the new daylily beds :-))

And Rita, it is also eco-friendly to have more daylily beds.
