I have tried to grow borage for two seasons. I get germination and growth but then lose the plant around flowering time. Not being able to grow borage is one of my top gardening disappointments. I have a holy basil plant and it is definitely not holy basil unless it is another variety of holy basil and the seeds were incorrectly labeled. (eta: actually there is a tulsi basil volunteer in the pot of plant #2. I know that the basil that I am trying to get an ID on is not very clear, maybe I will cut a branch and post a picture of the branch). I smelled the leaves twice and the first time the both leaves smelled like its from the Italian / sweet basil category and the second time I smelled it had a spicy / clover-ish smell that I associate with Thai basils (based on descriptions I've read, not actual experience). I am saving seeds so I am just trying to see if I can get IDs for labeling purposes. Thanks for all the input. ETA: I planted the following: Queenette, Italian Leaf, Siam Queen, Sweet Thai, Sweet, Dark Opal / Purple Leaf, seeds harvested in 2016 from basil plants purchased at Home Depot.

Thank you Carol- i will look up the names you provided as it is alway nice to discover new plants. i was buying small celery plants when i spotted it next to the Parsley. -i did ask for the name, but i didn't write it down (it was not a herb that i had ever heard of) but i was told it went in pies. i thought it looked like Burnet. possibly some flavour will develop later -so far it just tastes fluffy :-(

Water thoroughly when dry. Let water run out the bottom holes. Never by tablespoons. You can tell when they need water by inserting a wooden skewer for a few minutes. When you remove it, if it’s damp, don’t water. As for the third pic, I suspect the pot is too big for them, and they should be potted a little higher if you are able to repot in a smaller container. The recommended soil mix here is commercial cactus and succulent potting mix combined 50-50 with perlite available from your nursery. You are on a good start with your succulents. I suggest you take time to read many other threads here, and you will learn a lot. Also there are some good YouTube videos. I like Debra Baldwin, another is Sunshine and Succulents.

Thank you, Ken. In NY, my Chnese Evergreen was on top of a wall unit, on the corner closest to the window. I watered weekly in summer (feeding every 2 months) and 2x month Sept-Apr. I keep these in the gallery/atrium, which is a 2nd floor open air garden with the walls of a 3rd floor above it. There it receives all day bright light but little to no direct sunlight. I have these in the same high drainage soil I use for my bromeliads, hoyas, terrestrial orchids, adeniums, and plumeria, so it’s fine under the rains. Of course, I’ll feed these monthly at 1/2 strength. Our area has very high humidity and it seems to love just where I have it ... It’s grown tremendously in one month.
