Hot dill pickle question

Here I am to ask one more question and would greatly appreciate any help that you all could give me. I found a hot pickle recipe on Recipezaar, that I would like to try. The recipe calls for adding red hot peppers in the canning jar, but doesn't state what variety to use. It looked like tiny red hot peppers of some sort. There are hundreds or thousands of hot pepper varieties, so I don't know what kind to use. Does anyone else make hot dill pickles, if so what do you use? I don't want to burn alive, just give those pickles a little kick. Any suggestions? What are some of your favorite pepper varieties that you use in your pickles for heat and flavor?
