Freezing green beans, have any of you changed your minds?

I have two gallons of Fortex pole beans from the garden that I'm going to have to blanch and freeze today. I read an older thread where there was a discussion about how long to blanch them. Many of you thought three minutes was too long, resulting in mushy beans when thawed and cooked, though that's supposed to be the length of time needed to stop further deterioration. KS Rogers said he blanched his only one minute before freezing and nuked them three minutes when they wanted to eat them.

Has anyone changed his/her mind? I am leaning toward a one-minute blanch but want to see if any of you have new information. And will a pinch of sugar hurt them any during the blanching process? It keeps them green if put into the cooking pot before a meal.

Thanks.
