melons and pumpkin in a raised bed inside a garden

We have a garden area of 40x120. Ive tried growing pumpkin, watermelon and cantalope in the past with not much luck. This space is new. We have good dirt. We added manure, and top sool mixed with a small amount of peat and compost. Instead of planting on hills, we want to make three raised beds in the garden. If tried to gather all the info that i possibly can. I plan to put some manure at the bottom of each bed, then mix my garden soil with more peat and a little sand. Then fertilize with an aerated compost tea every two weeks. Also, we will put paper mulch and a layer of mulch down on beds. And paper mulch with straw for the ground. Any suggestion you can add would be very helpful. We also plan to shade the pumpkins, but im not sure about the watermelon and when they should be shaded.
