blueberry tapioca

I have lots of frozen blueberries and have been mainly using them in oatmeal for breakfast. I was trying to think of another way of using them that wouldn't involve lots of sugar or fat. I found a recipe for blueberry tapioca. It called for 2 cups of berries, 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons of tapioca. Cook it on top of the stove til it comes to a boil. I reduced the sugar (used about 1/3 cup) and after it cooked, I added another cup of berries. It turned out very well, sort of like a jello. The frozen berries that weren't cooked held their shape within the mixture despite being thawed. I would think you could also use articial sweetner instead of sugar. And it would probably work with other kinds of fruit too.
