So beautiful, and I can't decide between Esprit de Corp (which looks better than mine did all year) or Mokan Butterfly. Pirate King is leaving here this year. I had 2 or 3 beautiful blooms, and then splotchy messes of blooms.

That is it for that one.

Mantis, I will have to get back to you on Good Impressions rebloom. I know it doesn't rebloom anywhere the way Happy Returns does. Julia, I have wondered if our orange double NOID was Peach Magnolia, but the scape height has never achieved 32" as listed by AHS nor have any of the flowers been 5.5 inches. It is a dormant diploid, but I would say the bloom season for us is early, not MLA. The thing is, growing conditions from place to place can vary greatly, so anything is possible. I would love to be able to definitely name it, but probably won't happen. Glad everybody likes E. Esmerelda, sure wish the color had come out the way it looks here, which I would describe as Raspberry Red, really striking. I appreciate all your comments and interest. Avedon

njmomma:I have a Canon EF Lens EF70-300 F4-5.6 IS USM lens on the Canon Rebel. Easier for me to use this lens when photographing the blooms since I don't have to get too close to the blooms, ie step in the bed to get a good closeup shot. It is set on auto focus and all I need to do is adjust the distance, ie 70 through 300, for closeups. Heavier camera now with this lens on. I love our Canon Rebel. The simpler to do pics the better for me. ;-). I also use a Canon SD800 Powershot IS. Small, easy to handle but I think the zoom is nothing special and I prefer the bigger lens on the Canon Rebel. The other problem is that there just is no place within a large city to put all that snow, it has to be hauled in trucks somewhere, it can't just stay piled on the sidewalk. And the likelihood that it'll melt before April is pretty slim. So, stay safe, everyone and warm, and try not to drive if you can help it. Even though we're very accustomed to getting snow and dealing with it, the blowing and zero visibility that dlynn mentioned causes all kinds of problems, like the 193 car pile up we had last week here in Michigan, closed the interstate for two days. It was kind of fun, though, one of the vehicles was hauling fireworks and they all went up, I saw a you-tube video of the 1-96 crash/pile up and fireworks were just a-popping! Anyway, a good snow always seems to be a great time to bake bread, especially if you have a wood fired oven! Annie

" listing all of the work I did building my house as if it were a job (it was, after all) and putting in plenty of buzz words about managing the project." that was a very good idea! you did do all of those things - and on your own. no need to tell them you were boss. tho, that's what others who operate a bz have to 'resume'. that was such a tremendous accomplishment! it'll come... maybe you could throw out a date in 2-4 wks and see what their reaction is. you could just be needing time to 'clear up loose ends' so you'll be totally on your toes at a new job. you can think of a better way of wording that. some days I struggle with my name - lol! ok, not quite that bad yet but I did think yesterday was Thurs and Friday! I started out going out to do errands to leave Friday clear for trash day... but before I left I put trash in the car to take to my sister's. Friday is trash day. her bin was out so by the time I got home I was very confused about what day it was... I'm another one who is so glad not to be in the work world anymore. I wasn't when I was first disabled (when I was awake to think about it) even tho I knew I couldn't hold a job anymore. now when I look around at what is going on in places - heck, I hardly want to go out to do errands anymore.

Nice blooms but I really, really go for the clump shorts. I love all the clumps but my very favorite is ESPIRIT DE CORP.

Love those clump shots! I have Mokan Butterfly too, it really makes a nice looking clump. I hope Pirate King clears up for you, it would be stunning

WOW!!! These are all just gorgeous. I just love all the clump shots.Beautiful.LIGHT OF THE WORLD is so pretty.I never cared a lot for WILD HORSES, but that clump shot of it is fantastic, and I love PEARL HARBOR. Would love to have that one, some day.MOKAN BUTTERFLY is gorgeous, too. Thank you for sharing your nice clump shots with us.

I may just send PIRATE KING packing next year as it opened 2 more blooms this morning and they are looking the same. Time to do some research and see why this particular daylily is a problem.

Thank you all for the compliments. I really enjoy seeing the multiple blooms.

If Pirate King could get its act together, it would be one impressive daylily. My favorite is the clump shot of Light of the World.

Wow, your Mokan Butterfly has way darker of an eye than mine ever did! Beautiful! I should have given it some more time!

Too bad about Pirate King is right! If it would get it's act together, it would be beautiful! Please keep us up to date on what you find out thru your research.

I just love the colors of Light Of The World, that color pink just pops!

Mokan Butterfly makes an impressive display in a clump! Espirit De Corp is awesome color. I'm like so many others posting here when it comes to Pirate King. It's been here 3 years now and only once have I seen it with a nice bloom on it....most of the time it's covered with blotchy flowers.
