i went to this right when it opened-- we live nearby. it was a beautiful place with so many neat plants; my children campaigned for a plant each, so one got a cotton plant, and one got a coffee. also got a night-blooming cereus and a butterfly pea vine.

the sale was pretty small, and i don't think they realized they'd have such an overwhelming response. it was wonderful, though! the botanic gardens has stopped having their plant sales, which were always jam-packed. i think they have made a mistake in discontinuing that in the face of budget cuts, and have never gotten a solid reason why they did. but clearly we plant people are voracious, and will show up to enjoy the bounty!

Just got back. Cheryl I saw you but you were with several people so I didn't stop. Yes, quite the overwhelming crowd! The plants were picked over by the time I got there. Good for them though! I keep thinking about joining this crew. I just need to find the time.
Loved the oak canopy. Majestic! Quite the gem of a lot. I'm looking for something quite like that.
Makes an excellent canopy for the many rare palms and tropicals I grow.

We had over 2300 people show up!
We were hoping for 200.
I am so proud of our RPN members.
Can you believe we were completely sold out of plants
by 11:30! Over 700 plants!

Quite a piece of paradise.
By the way, Sandy told us before we left that both
the 2 smaller houses around the pool
(1 and 2 bedroom) are for rent there if anyone is interested.

Cheryl, I was there this morning-- if you were selling plants, maybe I bought one from you! Or at least said hello-- I always think it's neat to attend some of these, and to see such a wide variety of people attending. I am not surprised y'all sold out-- there were some really neat plants, and everything I saw was in great shape. I wish I had grabbed a lemon verbena I saw, which was new to me...there were some beautiful red plumeria as well, and if I had the space, I would have gotten a tropical hydrangea, or about a dozen other things that I saw and loved. I am so glad they all went to good homes. If your group ends up having another sale, I hope you will post about it here :)
