Wanna' take a little tour of the front yard?

If so -- here we are ... :-)

The front yard has been through many phases in the twenty-six years we've lived here. There used to be lots of roses -- 150 in front and back if you count the minis, but that was BD (before deer) and BCT (before chilli thrips). Now it takes very little water and not much attention ...

Bob took out the lawn quite a few years ago, but there's still plenty of green. On the left is a Arroya sweet wood, Texas red oak in the center, the trunk of the Cedar elm right of center. Love all these trees ...

Plants are in pots because it's very hard to dig a hole in the caliche and rock ...

Bob built up the soil in the area shown below for an English rose garden. Now of course the plants have to be deer resistant. But that's okay. I'm lovin' these plants too ...

You've probably already seen the hanging baskets, but this back-lit shot turned out nicely ...

On the opposite side of the yard along the drive way ...

The Arroya sweetwood tree is still blooming ...

But most of the tree is now high lighted with the lime green seed pods which keep their color until August. There's always the light scent of vanilla and cinnamon in the air with the slightest breeze. If anyone wants seeds just ask ...

Thanks for coming along with me on this rainy afternoon. Just checked the rain gauge and we got two and a half inches in a little over an hour!
