I'm sorry that you are so far away from me. Swapping plants is a great way to get a larger variety. Senior Center, local gardening club, high school agriculture classes, 4-H, local library.... I would have thought Craigslist, but I had extra pecan trees and placed an ad. I got a dozen people who wanted one and then never showed up. 6 trees went to friends who garden and I have 34 pecan trees for myself. I'm putting a pecan in every empty space I can find. I am NOT throwing away pecan trees!!!! Oh, just thought. Maybe your local junior college offers gardening classes. Parks and Recreation offers classes and I think I've seen gardening classes offered. If you have a thrift store you like to support, maybe they would take them to try and sell them. Tons of plants and veggie starts get sold by the local stores, so somebody is growing veg. Do you have a local farmer's market?

OK, now. I am ready to start, and would like to know what you do. Connie, I have your Hartwood program. The rest of you, what do you do? This spring has been a bad spring. We are coming off of a 3 week steady rain, and I am overwhelmed with work, but if I don't make some cuttings soon, it might be too late. I have over 200 bushes, and they are mainly teas and chinas. I'd like to know if you use a shortcut or what you do. At the top of my pile of papers I see Hartwood Roses, and that looks like a good start. The guy from ARE used a plastic bag method that someone said never worked. Sammy

We do a weekly inspection of all the places they like to hide, and nothing yet. We are HOPING the cold did kill them all. This weekends inspection for the cubans was NONE. We have noticed more tiny green frogs, which is good. PLEASE REPORT any sightings (number and location) to the Professor who does research on frogs and invasive frogs such as the Cubans to: Steven Albert Johnson at tadpole@ufl.edu http://ufwildlife.ifas.ufl.edu/ This site gives you instructions on how to humanely dispose of the cubans. Warning...keep a close eye on them as they grow. Cuban treefrogs can look very much like squirrel treefrogs when they are small. But you should be able to tell the difference for sure as they get a bit larger. Because I wasn't outside for nine weeks, Cubans have spawned in my water gardens, and I have baby ones hopping all over my plants. I'll never catch them all right now. Which means my green anoles will soon be in peril. Hopefully, as they get a bit larger and easier to catch, I can dispatch most of them. (the CTF's not the anoles, of course) Marcia
