mine are volunteer every year for the past 7/8 yrs & I noticed they had gotten a tough 'hide' didn't come up this year. I believe package said they were hybrid but they came 'true' as far as I could tell. I have a tastier 'green grape' or something, I like better though, so not concerned about the SunGold not making an appearance.

But Laurel is in S CA where the humidity is low and high humidity can sometimes be much worse than high temps in terms of tomatoes. Elskunkito, since you're asking about Guam you must have some kind of contact there and if I were you I'd ask that contact what kinds of tomatoes are grown there. There was also a thread here about trying to find tomatoes for a high temp high humidity area in Africa and you might try to find that thread here and the suggestions that were made. The day temps don't look bad at all and such day temps are known to lots of folks in the south and in the SE they have high day temps and also high humidity, and as long as one gets the plants out early enough there should be time for fruit set and that's b'c night temps of 70F and above don't allow for fruit set. So I'd say any varieties grown by folks in the hot humid SE and that includes FL, might be appropriate. Carolyn

I wonder if Kumato might fit the bill. These are the brown tomatoes that you can find in grocery stores in the winter. From what I hear, they come true from saved seed. They have tough skins and are about the size of a golf ball. Linda ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ wikipeda says that it is a heirloom, originally from Spain (under different names ). The company that grows KUMAO and distributes fruits won't sell the seeds. BECAUSE, they want to sell the fruits . Trader Joe's sells them. I Bough a package ($3.79/lb). Dave's garden says: that the fruits are sterile and seedless !! That is nonsense. They are loaded with seeds. So I will grow one plant.
