God only knows. Almost all watermelons sold in stores are hybrids and will not reproduce "true to type", so you could get anything. Several years ago, before I knew about this, I saved some Yellow Doll seeds and planted them the next year. I got some yellow fleshed watermelons but they definitely were not as good as the one I bought the year before. Since then I have been buying only open-pollenated heirloom varieties, which I would strongly recommend. Recommended varieties: Black Diamond Yellow Flesh Moon and Stars Moon and Stars Yellow Orangeglow Desert King Klondike and if you want to grow a really big one, Carolina Cross. Wayne

I'm growing crimson sweet and sugar baby. For the first time home gardener, the hardest part may be knowing exactly when to pick the melon. I'm growing them in an area where I burned down a honeysuckle bush then added a couple feet of extra dirt, composted grass clippings, leaves, etc. The two plants took over over a 20' x 20' area and I have over a dozen melons on the vines. I picked one sugar baby too early and it was mostly white inside. Don't believe the yellow ground spot "rule" if you're growing sugar baby! I tried lifting another one to check the tendril and it broke off. It was too early also. I waited about a week after the tendril dried on the 3rd one. It was 10" long and 12 lbs which I hear is a good size for a sugar baby. It was mostly ripe but would have been better if I left it a few more days. I'm a little bit paranoid about picking them at this point. I just noticed a crimson sweet which the tendril just dried on. I'll give it a week before picking and try to pay close attention to the sound when thumping / flicking it. At least a couple more sugar babys are almost ready also. We just tried the first canteloupe growing in the same area where we were throwing the grass clippings and it was very very sweet! I'm hoping our next few watermelon turn out great also.

white fleshed watermelons are a rare variety of watermelon that as far as I know are some what challenging to grow but if you want white fleshed watermelon seeds this site has some of the best prices that I have found as well as no buying limit as well as watermelons that have many differnt colored flesh (the inside) including deep red, pink, white, yellow, and orange this site has most of the types you listed and then some and because of the low prices you can try out differnt types I personaly sugest the Colorado Preserving/Red Seeded Citron this watermelon is easy to grow, are resistent to almost every thing yeilds fruit that are about 10 pounds and have white flesh and red seed although the fruit are not good to eat fresh they are usable in many holiday recipes and will keep for months but they are rock hard but I do beleive that the site is temporarily out of stock of these seeds Here is a link that might be useful: rare seeds

All the reds and pinks look pink to me, but some of them look pinker than others. In 2016, I had a *very* pink-looking 2nd year (possibly crossed) Ledmon that was the best-tasting watermelon I had ever tried. Another plant in the same spot produced a much redder fruit (which didn't taste the same). I had a yellow watermelon one time that smelled like a pumpkin. Do you think that was Salmon Yellow? I'm pretty sure it wasn't Canary Yellow (it didn't look nearly as vibrant as Yellow Doll F1), but it looked much more yellow than the picture there. It had loose flesh, and was sweet, but not what I had hoped for. I don't remember the variety. It had flavor, but it wasn't my preference. Is there a salmon red/pink, by chance? A red/pink fleshed watermelon I grew tasted a lot like that pumpkin-smelling one, except a whole lot better, IMO (I loved it), with firm, crisp flesh. I wonder if that might be a salmon red or salmon pink. I wonder if crossing Salmon Yellows with Citron watermelons could make them taste better, by imparting a crisper flesh. The yellows and oranges I've tried in recent years haven't had particularly loose flesh, however, but they didn't taste like that pumpkin-smelling one, either. They just didn't have a lot of flavor or sweetness.
