The garden is looking pretty good, if I do say so myself, the swap plants are labeled and perky and I am looking forward to seeing everyone next Saturday. Anyone still needing directions email me or post here and I will get them out to you.

I am starting to feel like a kid the week before Christmas!

Here's the "guidelines" on how this works from last year. First year we had about 12 people, last year around 30, who knows how big it will be this year! Calling it a "swap/trade" has given new people the wrong idea, it doesn't really work that way. We do not trade or swap a plant for a plant. If you have nothing to swap, you can still come. If you only have three things to get rid of, it is conceivable you could go home with a dozen things. First step...go to the exchange thread and post what you have and are bringing. You can bring anything garden related-plants, cuttings, seeds, books, magazines, pots, tools, etc. You'll also post what type of food/drink you can bring. Read all the other posts in that thread and see what others have to offer. If you see something that you really want, set up that trade now, privately. Then that item will be earmarked for you and you can pick it up at the swap. Pack up all your unwanted items-- even if you posted them on the exchange thread and no one asked for them. There will be non-Gardenweb people here who might want them and beginners who need everything who did not want to appear greedy by asking for all your stuff in the thread. Between 9-10 am show up and unload your stuff. Find a spot in the back or front yard and put all your items down in that spot. Make sure all the plants have labels on them, even if it's nothing more than a marker on a leaf or a piece of tape on a cup. After you've unloaded and found your spot, wander around and look at what everyone else has brought. Eat. Drink. Socialize. When everyone has arrived, we will then, one person at a time, go over our pile of giveaways and stuff. You will tell everyone what you brought, how to cultivate it, etc. If you want whatever is being talked about, raise your hand and it's yours. If more hands go up then there are items, rounds of Rock, Paper, Scissors determines who gets it. This is why you might get more than you came with. Plus there are always items that no one wants, and new gardeners can clean up at the end. After it's all done there will be more eating, drinking and socializing. Feel free to invite non-Gardenwebbers you might know who would be interested, just post on the exchange thread what they are bringing if you can. I would like a small start of orange mint, please, Tigerdawn!!! And Kelly, if Chandra "forgets" (although I just can't see that happening), I've got some growing and we can dig you up some. Mine is on the outside of the garden...to lure away some unwanted insects so let's try to get it out of Chandra's bed first but I've gotcha covered if not. Also, we have a PLETHORA of Chickasaw (wild) plums. Tigerdawn, you took some home last year, how did they do? I've got about 6 or 7 that have insisted on coming up in the OG (Original Garden)...and I'm determined to dig them out once and for all this year. We've also got them coming up in other areas that we just mow down. They have a really pretty bark in the winter months. If time permits, I'll pot some of those up too if anyone is interested. I took a huge tub of starts to Ilene (who once was a member here) last September and I'm very happy to report that many survived the winter in Bartlesville! We're close to needing to start another thread. If someone gets there before I do, please name it "2011 Spring Fling Thread II"...or something like that so we can find it later. Oh mercy...I'm listening to the 10 o'clock weather and looks like some of us may need to replace some things due to a freeze tonite. This "Fling" might turn out to be quite active!

I'm totally good with the fish emulsion scented bells but I'm having trouble with the cow manure-covered whistles... however, I've seen this group try strange things before so I guess it won't surprise me.

I haven't gotten as many things started as I had hoped to but I'll bring cuttings. I dug a couple Mysore bananas today - they are small and an easy size for transplanting.

I'm very excited to see everyone!

Kate/solstice98, LOL! I left a bit of room at the blowing end of the whistle so that no one would be spitting out cow manure. (-; I don't have many plants either, but I'll be there, since this is my first plant swap and I'm eager to meet some of you wonderfully inspiring people!

Susan - I hope you guys have a great time and spectacular weather. It's a 5 hour drive for us, but someday...

Let me give you three words of advice, something to consider just before the first person arrives - single malt Scotch.

Okay, some real advice:
1. Make sure lots of people take pictures.
2. Don't forget to eat (at least taste everything once!)
3. The day will go so fast you'll immediately want to schedule another one.
4. When it's all over and everyone is gone - single malt Scotch.

Nova, I can't WAIT for Saturday! I don't have a LOT of plants to share, but will bring what I can find. And I'll get to drive over with Kate & Nicki, two of my favorite gardening buds. And I'll get to see old friends and meet new! I'm really excited. I spent last weekend at the hospital with Mark, , and I will be gone to Gainesville Wednesday and Thursday, so I am WAY behind in what I planned to dig and bring. But never fear, I'll find something. And I have some siam ruby bananas to share, for sure!

Are the THREEPS back yet? Mine are noisy as anything, flitting everywhere.

Hey Ill, I have a beautiful star begonia that I received at a swap - I think it was Diane's. Did I get that from you? I hate it that I can't remember who gave me so many of these plants, but I assure you that I appreciate every one of them!

This thread slipped to page 2! I'm so excited. I've spend much of the day in my yard (Bee-u-tiful day!). I have more things to bring than I thought and I'm now wondering how they are going to fit in the truck w/o getting wind damaged on the way there. I'll find a way.

Hello Everyone! Tomorrow is the big day! I am so looking forward to seeing everyone. Anyone who wants to bring a dish, feel free. I will be supplying "crossandwichs", chips, soda and water. We have one other trader bringing a fruit tray and I think someone else is bringing cookies. I am sorry but have forgotten for sure. For those who haven't been to my house before, please take my phone number with you as the roads out here in the forest can be a little funny! My house will be the one with the split rail fence with cow skulls on the posts out front. Also I will have neon green signs out with "Plant Swap" on them to help you find the way. Don't get lost and don't ask "Cletus" for directions! Ha-Ha! See you all tomorrow!

Hi, Nova! I was gone Wednesday and Thursay, and have been feeling really lousy today...bad, bad headache!...so I have only a handful of plants ready. (My plan had been to dig stuff today so it wouldn't be all wilted by the time I got to your house...bad plan, obviously.)

Still looking forward to getting there, though. Am taking some meds and going to bed early tonight, so I can be up bright and early tomorrow.
