Hi all- we are going on a cruise to Grand Cayman, Cozumel Mexico & Montego Bay, Jamaica. Looked up the cruise line's excursions and really didn't see anything garden wise. Just curious if anyone can recommend anything. If not, I'll just sit on the beach and drink margaritas with my husband. Thanks in advance.

Beverly - While you're in MoBay, grab a taxi and have him take you to Jerky's. Some of the best Jerk Chicken and Pork in the area and it's only a 10 minute drive where the ship's dock.

Thanks for the tip. I'll be careful not to pick up anything for "my head mon." Don't want to spend my vacation in the Jamaican pokey.

I can't help you with pictures, as I don't grow it. However, I did an online search for you, starting with the AHS database. The plant is CARIBBEAN ROSE PETITE ("Petite" with e on the end), and using the correct spelling gives you a few online sources. No pictures, but you might contact one of the sources next year, when there presumably will be pictures. Hint to all....I see many questions about cultivars that could conceivably be answered by checking the AHS database first. This is a great source for info on cultivar stats!

Hiii thanks everyone :) wanna run faster... hii! well most of those amaryllis i had recently bought, so they just bloomed but usually they arent in bloom like that, its just one here and there. Trini, hiii so nice to meet a fellow trini here :). I just looked up that tree daisy... what a lovely plant!!! Does it grow true from seeds? Denise hiiiii! , its a ruby spotted swallowtail and the caterpillars feed on citrus leaves. Its really beautiful! Hi Hester, yep im also very interested to see what grows in florida, because im dying to try some eupatorium purpureum or fistulosum, and purple loosestrife.... but im not sure if it can grow in a tropical climate!

We just got back from a lovely Caribbean cruise. Our last stop before we got back to New Orleans was Key West. DH and I just wandered around the shops dockside and it wasn't until I got back home that I was looking at some of the attractions there and discovered they have some beautiful museums and gardensbut you will need to find a tour or rent a car. Try "googling" Key West and you'll see for yourself. Key West was just gorgeous. The weather was balmy, the water so blue and so was the sky. You'll just love it.

Don't know how long you will be in Jamaica but if you have time go to Juicy Patties....the best beef patties ever :-) I love Jamaica.....my second home :-) We just got back from there....well a couple weeks ago.....I'm ready to go back.

The Jamaican government is about to legalize what you may or may not be referring to. Supposedly by May 1st. But in truth, they don't bother tourists.

We'll be headed back May 30th for a week. Trini - I agree about Juicy Patties. They have several locations on the island. Any food that makes you sweat is worth driving for!

Hubby loves the patties. Gosh I'm getting hungry just thinking about the jerk chicken and patties. Yum!!!

Ricky next year we need to coordinate our vacation plans.....we go to Jamaica every year :-) WE were there the first week of May :-(

trini - we go two or three times a year. This year we're going 5/30 and 10/23.
