Lou, your place looks a lot like mine (except I have no fruit trees.) You are just North of me. If I get a chance I'll share some of my photos soon, need to get out there and photograph some of the wild Walter's Viburnum and Carolina Jessamine that are in full bloom right now. Thanks for the nature walk and pix of the fruit trees. I would like to try fruit but we have such a problem with all the wildlife around here, don't know if it would be worth it.

Were you getting all the cold temperatures I was getting here this winter?
You will need to put up a photo and the name of the plant so I won't cut anything good down as I clear out a lot of the property.
I don't have a clue on what the good natural trees are here.
I've been trying to only cut down the pines and oaks to open it up a bit.
I have removed a lot of the underbrush, but I'm sure some of it may have been good to leave.
I could start you some fruit trees if you like. (free)
That way you could check if your area critters would let it grow and fruit without you having to spend the big money for the trees.
When I do my tree pruning each year, I just hate wasting all that good grafting scion.(the twigs I toss out)

Lou- Do you spray anything on your peach trees? This is my first year with a peach tree and I noticed some tiny worms around. I guess Spinosad or BT would do it?

I haven't had any problems with bugs so far on the fruit trees.
The only thing that was on my trees were ants so I used tanglefoot. (the goopy sticky stuff)
It stops them from running up and down the tree trunk.
It looks like gooey taffy. I didn't want the ants to start up a herd of aphids.
I check my fruit trees daily.

Thank you for the tour, your fruit trees are looking good! and it is nice to be able to enjoy a nature walk. I also try to take a look at my garden daily for signs of pests or disease. Keep us updated as you get more blooms.

Thanks for the nature tour, Lou. I would love having your property. Is there a slope? Seems like there's elevation in several of the pictures. Show us again when the new foliage is out. Can you grow daffodils up there? What about redbud?

I do have a redbud tree which I have to relocate once I get the property cleared of the tall pines in the area I would like it.
Son-in-law is coming Friday to help cut the tall trees.
Yes I do have quite a slope and those trees are blocking the view.
The house and barn are on the top of the hill
I haven't really started to plant many flowering plants yet as I've been concentrating on the orchard first.

Lou, we suffered extreme low temps this past winter, even lower than last year. One morning got down to 15 degrees! So not sure how any of these fruit trees that you grow would survive here. If you have no problem rooting some of your throw-away stuff, I'd be glad to take them off of your hands, it's nice of you to offer. I've taken some pics of some of the wild stuff here...

Yes, I also had a low of 15 here too. Then I had a 16 and later a 19 with a bunch of 20's mixed in for good measure.
I think we have approximately the same temperatures. I'm about a mile north of the Hernando County line.
You are correct about your property looks very similar to mine.
Looking at your pictures I also see the same type things growing.
