Ruellia management

I have a large patch of Ruellia (getting bigger all the time) and would like to know how to manage it so that it doesn't put out long vine-like above and below ground branches that root, make a tangled mess out of my garden, and crowd out other plants. I know it's an exotic invasive species and I should pull it out, but it flowers almost every day all summer even when nothing else does, and it's almost impossible to get rid of anyway. I pulled out a patch in another section of my yard two years ago and it's still coming back :( So if you're going to tell me to get rid of it, please tell me how. I'm hoping there's a time/way to prune it so that it stays in its own space?
