Pretty! I really must plant some zinnias next year for the butterflies:)

Thanks! The Zinnias have been the champions of drought these past many weeks. I think these might have been State Fair seed, but I don't know for sure.
RE your photos, I love the Salvia chamedryoides, very pretty!
How do you manage to get such a large bloom on your Euphorbia corolata? Mine are so tiny!

thanks for the responses. It is a single varitey tree, all the apples on this tree have grown the same way. My other mature tree is a golden delicious and the apples are smaller and very good tasting. The apples on this tree are very large (3.5" wide by 3" high). Also the stems are very short on the apples. Here is another picture, this one from early October last year.

Thanks, unfortunately we have a serious mosquito problem so the time I can spend in the garden this time of year is extremely limited: :o( Between the heat, humidity & bugs I try to get all my garden work done in the spring so I can sit back and relax in the summer!

You have at least 3 pests maybe 4 #1 Citrus Leaf Miner- It is suggested not to treat mature citrus trees for this pest #2 Cottony Cushion Scale- You may not need to treat for it if you can find some vedalia beetle #3 Ants- They seem to be going after the excretion from the scale so if you get rid of the scale they should also go away. #4 You may also have mealybugs. It was a little hard for me to tell from those pictures as they can sometimes be similar to the scale. Someone here may be able to better tell than I. This website that follows gives a good explanation about most citrus pest and how or when to treat them. It also has good pictures to aid in identifying them. Your garden is looking terrific, especially for this time of year. You must have had great growing conditions. Hard to tell from photos, but it looks like even the white parts of the leaves are fine. We had a lot of rain this year, but also had hot weather. Lots of fungal disease, a bit of southern blight, nematodes, slugs, and hail have taken their toll. Next year I'm going to forget about being organic and put on fungicide, Nemakill, Bayer three-in-one, and a systematic insecticide for the Japanese beetles and hickory borers. Hate to do it, but the garden is losing the war.

It is indeed Festuca glauca. I just purchased 3 of them this past Spring and I've been very pleased with their performance. I wish I had the variety name in front of me, but I'm not at home as I type this.

If you pull the seed stalks it will benefit the festuca so they winter over better.

What's blooming right now for me are my butterfly bushes, Russian sage, meadow sage, coreopsis, salvia, abelia, crape myrtles, and lavender is about to bloom.

Your first photo is of a skipper butterfly though which one exactly I can't tell. You can tell it's a butterfly by looking at the antennae; they resemble a matchstick (sort of) and they fly during the day. I grew the cardinal climber this year and it took over a trellis and is trying to swallow the front of my house-one plant!
