There's a show and sale this weekend in Broward.

Yes, I know I don't need any more of these plants, but it didn't stop me from re arranging my work so I could have Sat off....and it's pay week.

So you if want to help in an "intervention" meet me here.

Too far south for my traveling but I really would love to go to something like that. My bromeliads were so damaged by Mr. Frost that they llok like they're not coming back.

Wish I could go! I had several damaged by the frost too, but more that did OK. I'm loving my brom bed and want more, more, more!

hotdiggetydam- I'm sorry I cant tell if it has a yellow center. The picture is in the banner at the top of the website, they have five pictures of plants. It is the red one on the far right. It looks similar to a ginger plant, but I assume it is a type of bromeliad. If I can figure out what it is I would like to buy some.

I wouldn't say lavender is "maintainence free"...if you want to keep a good shape and prevent the center from dying out/getting too woody (before it's time), the wands should be harvested and remaining shrub pruned back into foliage at least 2-4". In my zone I'll get a flush of new growth and re-bloom in fall and will not prune again until spring above the 'wood'. I put in a 5" 'Grosso' June of 95' and the plant has more than doubled in size this year...with wands about 3x2.5 (the wands made up most of that height). Lavender 'Munstead' was all seed started December of 95, planted out (8) 4" plants in March/April and this year I'm even more in love with Lavender that I was before!! Great bloom-and re-bloom from both types. Some variation in the 'Mustead' bloom color...a few plants are deep purple, while a few are more lavender in color. Soil alkaline and generally poor and full sun in zone 5b-6a. Have also found Lavender summer cuttings easy to root in straight perlite keep moist. Pot up in gritty mix after rooting in 2-3" pots. Mustead re-bloom Early spring transplanted 'Munstead'...was probably the smallest this year, but it bloomed beautifully! Thought I had pic's of the 'Grosso' but no such luck! Vera

We used BM Revere Pewter as well. I tried 6 different gray/blue colors and it was the winner. What I LOVE about it is that it seems to change colors during the day depending on the lighting. I am now going to continue it into my living room. It's a great neutral color and that goes well with so many other colors. While I was searching for citrus online I came across this site http://www.exoticfruitclub.com/. While I don't usually go for any of those "blank of the month clubs" I quite liked the idea of exotic fruits being delivered to me monthly. There's also the Palm Society's sale at Caloosa Park in Boynton Beach. I'm heading there on Saturday morning in search of small understory palms.

I was at the Bromeliad show at 9:15 and there was no one there to stop me. I ended up with 3 bags and a tray of broms. {{gwi:812163}}I spent more money than Ricky spent on Palms....and this is not a good thing. I don't blame you at all! I would rather eat pb&j for a week if I had to! You just can't pass up a lovely plant. Wish I had been able to go; you got some real beauties!

Oh Kristi, wish I could have been there with you and got some of the beauties. Did get one nice one at the Heathcote plant sale in Ft Pierce. Kathy and I split a pot with 2 and I got the one with blooms - which will be spectacular. Congratulations on all your new babies
