Nice photos. Here is mine. I am posting another thread about our latest project but here is the best I can do for today about our yard.

Bonzai in front of a bed of freshly planted flowers (pre mulch). She is absolutely no help in the yard but never far from me when I am working outside.

Here are some pictures from my garden.
This is my latest work in progress. I'm edging the back flower bed in limestone rocks. Koneko, who's not a small cat, is letting you know just how big a few of the rocks are.

The blue-eyed grass is in bloom as are the camelias.

Here's the largest of my chickasaw plum trees. I just love this tree!

The wild violets are in bloom and even a couple native rain lilies decided to take advantage of the rain and bloom.

And of coarse here are a couple more pictures of Koneko begging for attention! Whenever I let her out in the yard with me she follows me everywhere demanding that I pet her. I think she might actually be jealous of the attention I give to the plants! LOL

Ok yes Micky (first photo)is a hairy goomer,he's my new years gift to me! FYI he is No help either in the garden and not much for walks but he enjoys sitting around. The grandkids and I adore his floppyness!
I love Bonzai's lazy look too but he does look a bit guilty and Koneko must be color matched to that stone!
The Chickasaw PLUM is GORGEOUS!!!! WOW!

I hadn't noticed it until you mentioned it but Koneko really does match the rock she's standing on, doesn't she!

I love the show that the chickasaw plum puts on every spring. It more then makes up for it's rather dull appearance the rest of the year.

Things are starting to come back here, yea! My 25 year old crinum took a hit, but came back with three flower stalks. They're only half the size they usually are. Last year the stalks were at head level, now knees.

And some of my begonia's are coming back. The Immense is a shadow of what it use to be, but there's a flower or two on it.

Yesterday I couldn't stand it anymore and went out and started raking up the dead stuff. The pile so far...2 1/2 feet high, 10 feet long....and I'm not done adding to it.

Finally, a warm weekend. There really has not been much going on due to the cold weather, here's a few pictures but notice the absence of tomatoes, cukes/zukes, pole beans and peppers :-(

Oops, the broccoli is flowering! Next to the nemesia and gaillardia the bees seem to love it right now :-) :-(

Coming back from outside with pictures! It is delightful outside

I have buckets full of tomato plants this year - the seedlings came from the compost pile

Just recently three peppers popped up on the compost pile and they too have been planted in pots :)

Lettuce, beets, garlic...

A huge dill plant! Self seeded from last year and sprouted when weather got cold enough

I have been chasing this delightful fragrance in the garden..Lemony, somewhat similar to magnolia, but stronger...Turns out, one of my cymbidiums opened up - I did not expect such a strong and wonderful fragrance...
Although not fully opened, the plant deserves a mention:

What a beauty this little cymbidium is! The impatient grew in the pot as a weed - but added lots of color. I need to more the impatient to a better spot :]

And this little guy, Powder Puff, kept me company while I was uploading pictures. He is completely deaf (he was born deaf) and anything moving on the screen fascinates him. He is a very lucky boy - and I am a very lucky 'kitty mom' to have him...he was born to a feral mom and would not have survived, being deaf, if I did not trap him.
When we first saw him, he was just an adorable little bunny, hopping after his mommy (his mom got spayed), and did not even see us catching him ....
He adjusted well and now is fully convinced *I* am his mom!
(sorry, cant resist the opportunity to talk about this little bugger)

Olya, I always love to see your pictures. How in the world have you been able to grow tomatoes in this cold? And your orchids, as usual, are amazing. I love the pictures of Powder Puff too, especially the last one. That's one lucky cat to have found you ;-)

Tom, I grow them in pots (big pots) and in kitty litter container (the bitter the better)
My current set up is to use two litter containers (biggest Tidy Cats, good 5 gal, at least) One has holes and slides in the other - which leaves a small space in between. The outer bucket does not have any holes besides two a bit up high, for overflow water to escape.
This way, the roots can tap into the water that runs off the first bucket and is caught in the second...

Every cold snap I had to drag the pots in the garage...at least 7 or 8 of them... :[
But they are now full of green little tomatoes and flowers, so I guess it was worth it!

I did not intend to grow tomatoes in the cold months, but my compost pile was literally covered with seedlings of tomatoes!. I got the first wave of them, but the second wave got lost to the longest coldest 10 days we had...

It is really amazing what can pop up on the compost pile - and once you see it trying to grow, it is hard to just ignore it.

As Olya said the roses are happy. For once it is easier to have them than the tropicals:

Stunning Nancy, lots of love there. On a sour note I fear that where you have that Bismark it's going to be a behemoth though and you'll regret it later...I hope you don't hate me for saying it, better consider moving it now.

Nancy, your roses look great and so do the azaleas. My roses are doing well too, but not the azaleas. What do you do with the azaleas to get them to bloom so well? I just fertilized everything, but do you use a special mix for the azaleas, I know they like acid.

Olya, your tomatoes look great. I'm using two buckets too but this last time around I've been top watering instead of wicking water from the bottom, didn't work well and it didn't help that I didn't bring them in. Did you cover the surface with visqueen or are you top watering?

Tanya, I have been enjoying this thread. Thank-you for starting it! Your little one is just so incredibly adorable. He will always remember working in the garden with grandma. Maybe you'll spark a love of gardening in him. Is your family of ducks getting bigger? Your pond looks absolutely beautiful.

Karalynn, I hope you are getting some help lifting those monsters! I see the pile awaiting in the back. I forecast a lot of warm baths ahead for you! Nice project. The chickasaw plum and the camellias are stunning.

Lori, my begonias have withstood the cold rather well too. I think they are vastly underused in the lanscape.

Nancy, I can tell you've been hard at work. Your yard looks so perfect! Not a trace of the cold weather we've had. The roses are gorgeous and the foliage plants are so pretty too. Yes, my tree ferns have liked the cold, too. They look better than they've ever looked.
