DA, no worries. Done the procrastinating thing myself before posting then find I am behind. Always better to have multiple answers as it helps give the original poster confidence perhaps. Fruitjarfla, I am not at all sure you are gaining anything by that action - assuming you rarely view the Spam box. Homebound was placed on alert as soon as the self addressed email arrived. Your method eliminates that advantage I would think.

LOL Pam, I'm glad I'm not the only one! How ever in the world I got on their list I will never know. At first I thought it was funny only because it was an example of "it takes all kinds . . . " but now I find it incredulous, along with all the others. Wish I knew how to stop those, since they use spam machines to generate nonsense e-mail addresses that I can't block since they use a new one each time.

I report it each time I see it, I copy and paste the location of the thread, not just the title of it, plus I include the name of the spammer...it gets removed almost immediately sometimes if you do it that way. Also, change the drop down box for Nature of Message in their form to "Abuse or Violation." They may deal with those messages more quickly. I wish we would all start posting when we've reported spam on a thread, so a bunch of us don't waste our time doing it again. Some people call out spammers on the thread but then don't say if they've been reported or not.

I do hope that it doesn't become standard to automatically report posts to old threads as spam, without taking into account the text of the recent post. I say that because the day things switched over, there were several ancient threads resurrected. Most people were asking about how to search and others were asking about the background, but they were doing it on thread that were 2-4 years old, so I'm assuming they were confused but had figured out how to search the site, those threads were the ones that came up, and they didn't notice the date. I have reported a couple of posts as spam, because the poster did what chi83 said, a personal story and link. So I went to their profile site or whatever (I clicked on their user name) and saw that they had responded in a different thread, with a different link. It was spam-ahoy, so I marked them dead. On other boards I've been apart of, inappropriate posts are viewed by a person to determine if they violated the TOS. If they did, it's deleted. If it was something like cursing, that might be subjective and at the discretion of the person reading and the general feel of the board. (I'm personally pro-cursing, because sometimes a well place curse best encompasses my frustration, but I try to refrain out of respect for people who are offended). In my experience, posts that are flagged with "don't like it" are the ones that are the most likely to be allowed to remain. I mean, if someone says that people who live in suburbs are mindless, money hungry drones, that's not spam and not inappropriate or abusive, so not liking it would be the best option. Yeah, totally weak example, but that's all I could come up with.
