How to report spam/illegal business?
Comments (3)and I feel if I do nothing then I'm as wrong as the person posting it I agree and feel the same way. not sure if it's a prank spam or a virus spam or if it's someone being so stupid as to advertise illegal things on the net on a public site. I'm sure it is spam, and most all spammers are so stupid that they actually think that they are smart. Sadly, I've met a few people like that in real life too. Anywho, I see reporting spam or bad abuse on the any forums as something that we 'regulars' can all help with. Nobody likes spam trashing up their favorite forums. To report spam, just go to the bottom of any GW page and click on the Contact Us link found in the green bar. From the dropdown box choose Abuse or Violation. Then make your report. It is very helpful to GW if you tell them the offending member's name and also provide a copy of the URL for the offending post. It just takes a moment, and often a spammer has spammed several forums, so by reporting it, GW can clean up the other spams made by the same spammer. btw...I reported the spammer you are speaking of. I came across a spam of hers on another forum. A quick search of her name, shows she has spammed 3 forums so far, and if not stopped could spam a lot more of them. Sue...who has likely had too much coffee....See MoreReporting Spam to Gardenweb
Comments (7)I toyed with the idea of doing that when I 1st saw it but decided against it as I haven't had any complaints actually answered since Ivillage bought the place. Back in the day when Spike was here, he was on top of things. Never thought I'd say I missed him lol Guess GW needs to do something to stop it. Disgusting to have the forum crapped up like that....See MoreHow to report SPAM?
Comments (15)Have you seen the remodeling forum today? It is completely filled with spam. Only 2 legitimate threads on page 1. Interesting about the spammer having your email. I rarely get spam email and I post "reported" on spam threads all the time. I do see how it could be a concern. Since there appears to be no moderator this weekend I wonder if we would all get away with using the f word? I block all the ads but if I did see them I would be tempted to contact those advertisers and tell them how the boards are now in chaos with no supervision....See MoreHow do you report SPAM?
Comments (13)I report it each time I see it, I copy and paste the location of the thread, not just the title of it, plus I include the name of the spammer...it gets removed almost immediately sometimes if you do it that way. Also, change the drop down box for Nature of Message in their form to "Abuse or Violation." They may deal with those messages more quickly. I wish we would all start posting when we've reported spam on a thread, so a bunch of us don't waste our time doing it again. Some people call out spammers on the thread but then don't say if they've been reported or not....See MoreChi
