Lots of ffo blooms today (photos)

There were so many more blooms today than yesterday. Most of them were old friends, but one was a new one I added last fall.

CARY GRANT - I couldn't resist this watermarked beauty named after my favorite classic actor. This is the first bloom not to be damaged horribly by thrips.

I am glad to see your blooms coming now fast and furious so there will be lots of pictures.

Tuxie looks good. Must be in a hurry to go somewhere LOL!

I remember NATALIE ANTOINETTE in your garden last year. It is so beautiful and my favorite today.

So, where to start? I can see why these are among your favorites. Moonlight Sail gets better and better with every year you post photos. I didn't remember the self color being this pretty in the past. This one is definitely going on my very short list (assuming it's hardy here). Great photo of Sacred Ground. Boiled Shrimp, even without pinching, is my kind of color. It reminds me a little of Two Sues' color. And where did this Once Upon a Dream come from? Beautiful edge and color. Another must-have.

Silverkelt - Maybe I should get a job photographing daylilies for the big hybridizers. Wouldn't that be a dream job? Thank you for your kind comments. Kathy - Jamaican Love finally has 28-inch tall scapes this year. It's been very short the previous two years. The eyes on the bloom have been nice and patterned all week. They don't always show the gradiation in color. I posted the photos in the order I liked them. Walking In Beauty was my top favorite today with Bella Sera second, and everything else tied for third. Thanks BJ...I often go there. I had wanted parrot Jungle last year, but did't buy it, but then Bill put the Linda Beck special up, I ordered it and Ledgerwood's Firecracker which I wanted too. It will be opening in a few days. Thanks Vickie, I think the rebloom is better than the original blooms, but I suspect a day or so later the splotches may be still better. (ie. not so prominent.) Thanks Rose...I really figured it had been altered, so was tickled to see the throat so green (and large) and the intense colors. kay

Cary Grant was new to me last year and I love it, too (the flower and the man).

You posted another photo of a plant I had to buy last year as a result of your photography -- Patricia Snider Memorial. You know I don't like eyes, but for some reason the red/pinks on white appeal to me.

You have some really pretty ones.I especially like CARY GRANT. Tuxie is very pretty, too.If hes like my Ms Blackie, he was running to catch up with you before you get too far away.Ms Blackie hunts for a shady spot now that it has gotten to upper 90's.

How beautiful, Debra! I really like Cary Grant. Natalie Antoinette is a beautiful ruffly pink, and I don't know why Julie Newmar isnn't growing in my yard. I love your Patricia Snider Memorial. The color on mine is more rose, and yours looks red. I love the way it looks It was the second one to bloom in my yard, and it had yet another bloom today. Are your blooms always more of a lovely clear red than rose? Whatever, it is a beautiful bloom.

My favorite today was Applique. It has taken three years for this one to look like it's supposed to. It was given to me by a friend, and I'm so glad it finally got tall and shaped up. It was 97 degrees here today, and Cary Grant barely at all. I was very happy about that. So I would said CG was my second favorite.

Tuxie, the mama to all the other Gypsy cats, was on a mission. She was sitting on the stones of a raised bed, and I called her name to get her to look at me for the photo. But instead she took off running to me to get petted. She's very busy cat, and never sits still for long, so it's hard to photograph her.

Kay - My Patricia Snider Memorial has what I would call a rosy red eye. It's definitely not a true red. When I first got it, it bloomed a couple of flowers with a deep rose pink eye. But it has always has the rosy red eye since then. Does yours have many buds?

Chris - How is your Patricia Snider Mem. performing? I finally got mine out of the pot and into the ground, but the performance has not improved. Just 4 buds per scape again this year.

Patricia Snyder Memorial is gorgeous, but if it's a stingy bloomer I'll have to pick Julie Newmar as my favorite. Cary Grant is a beauty too. Love watermarks and reds so that's a perfect combination.

Debra, PSM was just planted last year, so I can't judge until I see some blooms this year. I do remember the few blooms it did have were on mighty spindly-looking scapes. Hopefully, it'll beef up this year.

Chris - My PSM still has spindly scapes. If it doesn't shape up next year, it will have to find a home elsewhere -no matter how pretty the bloom.

Dot - I do indeed love the awesome JULIE NEWMAR. Here's another photo from this morning. Julie never takes a bad photo.

Dean - CRAZY IVAN is a bold daylily, in both flower and foliage. Tuxie is a very bold little girl, too. I've seen her chase male cats three times her size out of the yard.

Nate - I hadn't noticed how Cary Grant's filaments matched the petal color. That does enhance its appeal.

Just a fantastic picture of the JULIE NEWMAR twins. Too bad about PATRICIA SNIDER MEMORIAL being such a stingy bloomer. It is a very pretty one.

Thanks Rita! I don't think Patricia Snider Memorial has liked our last two wet, cold winters here. It probably does much better in Texas where it was bred.

Every flower you have posted here is gorgeous. Love Cary Grant, but then am a red-fanatic.

Alas, my Julie Newmar never showed up among the unknowns with lost labels after the move. I know I would not have given it away or left it behind. I'm going to have to buy another one this fall.

I like Gary Grant too. Nice red, and Tuxie certainly has places to go!! All your photos are great.
