So what still looks good?

Much of my yard looks pretty bad despite having covered many things.

But I am curious as to what still looks good in your yard and was NOT covered? Also what was your minum temp.?

Me, my minum temp was 29

What still looks good and wasn't covered-

Gardenias

some of my salvias

border grass

bamboo

sugar cane

randia formosa

Aloysia virgata/sweet almond verbana

Michelia figo

bulbine

all my citrus

walking iris

Eranthemum pulchellum/blue sage

night blooming jasmine

I know I have more but my mind is drawing a blank right now.

Around 32-33 was the low here. Actually, I think wind was much more of a damage factor than the cold.

Everything came thru it good except my mussaenda (sp?). Are they a really cold sensitive plant?

Wow. We had sashimi and sushi rice yesterday and actually couldn't finish the fish so I was nervous to eat it raw today and instead turned it into a, whachacall it, frittata of sorts -- caramelized some onions and then cooked the fish a little bit in it and added egg and baked it. It was actually good, to my surprise. I was unsure at first, but it was well-dispatched. As was the pasta-meatballs combo I actually got it together to make this afternoon. Usually I start dinner at 8pm. There's a notable absence of anything raw on this menu but I did shut off the sauce immediately upon adding the kale so it's almost raw.... the salad just didn't get made today. I want to be a guest in all of your's houses. Yumeee

Actually, I think your tiles look great. And I am really particular about things. As said, it is just the grey with the blue, they are too close in colour so they seem as though they are supposed to match and do not. Just go to another paint colour. For example, greys and palest yellows with white trim look fantastic. This isn't a bathroom but look how great the colours are: http://yournestdesign.blogspot.ca/2010/08/exploring-color-aganthus-green-benjamin.html Lots of choices. I had a bathroom with tiles in a design like yours and painted the walls in the palest pearl grey - almost an off white (be careful not to get a grey that turns blue or green). And they I added white accents (towels, mat) with some art with white and a bit of colour. When we sold the house the new owners really liked the room. Wait until you see it with another paint colour and your rich wood vanity. Your bathroom will be fine, I am sure. Post a photo and show us the success! Radley

We just recently started removing old dead leaves from the base of this Agave Furcraea Macdougalii, but it will be a few more years before it develops much of a trunk. Anyway, it just keeps getting bigger, and it should bloom in another 20 years. Here it is from the other side, which is not back lit:We recently painted the upper part of the house, and so it is no longer white. Here's a photo I took yesterday at Joshua Tree National Park: I used to have a yucca that resembled these, but I do not have any of these plants myself, and so I only visit them.

The window is on the larger end and the blinds that were previously there were two separate blinds on one valance so I stuck with that. As for the TV, I brought this to my boyfriend’s attention and he says he usually watches TV with his seat reclined so he mounted the TV to accommodate that. I don’t watch TV often and when I do it hasn’t bothered me but now that it’s been brought to my attention, I can see that it looks awkward

My mussaenda plants drop all their leaves every "winter" and look like sticks until spring. I sweat it out every year and they always come back. I also prune them to half when they are dormant and they always grow huge in the summer.
Oh me of little faith!
Of course this year winter didn't hit until last week so they finally dropped their leaves.

My mussaenda thus far still looks good and is still blooming a little. It did have Christmas lights in it.

Other things that seemed to do well -
Out on the open:
Jasmine
Citrus
Mango
Crotons
Geranium
Bush daisy
Dusty miller
Jatropha interrigima (sp)
Hibiscus, though the first couple days after the cold, the blooms only partly opened, they're fine now.
Bromeliads
Ruellia
Scarlet Milkweed
Parsley & thyme - actually seem more vigorous than before
Coral shrimp - the Golden shrimp took a hit though, right next to each other, odd

In pool cage:
Red Hot Anthurium
Peace lily
Christmas cactus
Phal. orchid

Low was 35 or less here.

I got down to 23 here in Inverness.

Here's what didn't get damaged.
walking iris, both the regular and the giant
split leaf philodendron
macho fern
philippine violet
all of the bromilliads
hydrangeas
several buttercup plants
flax lily
blackberry lily had very little damage
both cassias
holly fern
bat plant
shell ginger
swedish ivy
firecracker plants
one of my fuschia skullcaps
cherokee bean
all the herbs - sage, parsley, fennel, thyme, oregano - which really surprised me
