Comments (26)Thanks again you guys! Im glad i took pics when i did cause things look crummy now. the heat was just too much too soon! cziga, you are right , the clematis is in the shade and it is indeed comp. de bouchard (tho my spelling could be off). i find that the colors on my clems are better in some shade, otherwise they just fade. And im sorry, i dont know the name of the lily! :( Cmk, im pretty sure that is icicle, but i lost the tag... the pale purple is called cinderella something or other. I really love how they attract bees and bloom so nicely! And the mushrooms were handmade and i bought them from an awesome lady at the philidelphia flower show, if i find their card ill email you about it! i love them too. troveof trilliums, i also hate the name scabiosa! ew! sounds like a terrible disease ... journalbee, my gardens are either on the outside of his area or in their own fenced off area. he dosnt allow plants in his territory! lol thanks again everybody, im so glad to be part of this awesome forum where we can all tour each others gardens no matter how far apart we are!...See MoreMy back Yard Palm Project...lots of pics
Comments (19)Hello.I'm with ya on the grass thing.Boring!I also was bit by the palm/ bamboo bug about 10 years ago.Yes it is alot of work.I live north of the Daytona area.So I envy your warmer weather. What got me started was a visit to the old Dent Smith house.Ever head of him?Lol.Well as a new palm nut you should look up.10 years in and 60+ varieties of palms growing. Some from rare seed from Den'ts old yard.I have learned alot.I like to push the limit like Dent did.Alot of palms I have growing here should not be.I also have 11 varieties of bamboo growing. What I know about flame throwers is they don't like full sun. Will burn.Ever go to Fairchild in Miami?Theirs are in part shade. So go to these types of places.Look & learn. Also, blue chugii looks much better in shaded area. Will be very yellow in direct sun.One question I do have. The palm right of garage-Is it a Dypsis baronii?...See MoreYou naughty girls, look what you made me do...
Comments (7)Thanks, all you guys. It's nice to have you validate my purchases, even though every purchase is personal and not to everyone's taste. Jane--I suppose I have to CONTINUE shopping to MAINTAIN my official status, right (ha ha)? Luvs--Yes, I think greens on the table, the plates, the candles--I can see it in my mind, but can I do it on my table? Betty--You did teach me well, you enablers! I'll have to do another lesson tomorrow at Tuesday Morning. We're heading for the big city for DH's tennis match and Tuesday Morning is on the way... Sandi--I hope I can do something worthy with the plates. I never really looked at stripes before until I bought some cheap Corelle at a rummage sale just to tide me over until we move and I unpack my dishes. They have stripes and they look really good on our card table LOL!! -Magpie...See MoreDo my curtains clash with my proposed BS? lots of pics
Comments (15)Hello Everyone, No one shares my vision that the white would work, that doean't surprise me. However when I look at the third pic above (the pic of the eat-in dining area, there is a sample of white glass tiles on the counter. I think it looks great! It looks so bright and fresh!) I'm not into neutral, I like contrast and I like color. My cabs are obviously traditional, but my syle is moving more modern. I'm trying to take my traditional looking kitchen and move it more modern. buffetgirl - I really don't like brown! LOL! I am trying to work with a situation where "If I knew then, what I know now", I'd do things differently. I've thought about brown instead of black in the backsplash and it doesn't do anything for me, I don't want more brown, I want less brown. Sherrman - while others like it, I don't. It is floor tile and not designed by me. The tile installer picked it and I went with it at the time. Also, due to the new granite, there is about a 1" gap between them. Annz - not changing any of the big stuff, cabs, floors etc. Just can't cost justify it. House is only 5 years old, We built it. We have about 39 sq feet of backsplash to do, Dh and I are discussing the balance issue that you mention. Yes, I want to make sure that it will look good. Thanks for bringing it up! Busybee3 - all green? Well...I thought about that...but just feel that it would be too much green. My walls are green, my countertop on the island is green...I just thought an all green backsplash would just be too much green. Plus I really like the idea of bringing over some white to brighten and de-neutralize the space. Auntjen - Oh...I am so happy that you think it will work!! I don't feel so alone! LOL!! Thank you all for your comments and suggestions, it helps me a lot. I appreciate it....See Moregreenhaven
