You did a good job guessing what my order was. I ordered CHILLED EUPHORIA, TEN CENT WINGS, UNFOLDING PARADOX, ATLAS SHRUGGED, SAVE OUR SOULS and RED SKELETONS. CATCH MY FALL is at the top of my sub/bonus list.

By the way, I already have Shadow Passage and Wind in the Rigging, or I would have ordered them, too. :o)

Oh, and just to let you know, BARN OWL is a Dan HansEn intro, not a HansOn. If I thought it would be hardy this far north, I would have added that one, too!

Those dang guys... Hansen/Hanson! I have a bunch of Hansen's here already, and thankfully they do well. I am in zone 7 of course....

I really liked Chilled Euphoria and Atlas Shrugged... But then again, I am really into pinks and purples...

Ladies, I am taking your advice for vendors from now on! What beautiful plants they sent, and about a 50% bonus too! I ordered 5 DF and got a forest of green (not to mention the free metal markers - meaning, I didn't have to do that step prior to planting!):

Those are some beautiful, healthy-looking plants, Michelle. We just recently saw the last of the snow melt here, so I have at least a month to wait to get any new plants.

I have tons of ideas for great vendors for you! Unfortunately, one of my favorites (Patron Gardens) hasn't updated their website, so I'm not sure what their story is.

I checked out there web site and picked out about 5 wants and only got through the B's I still have 22 more pages to go.

May I ask what will seem a very stupid question to all you mail-order people? I've never mailed ordered daylilies, have always bought potted up or had clumps freshly dug during visits. After preparing and then planting, what does say the daylilies shown above do/look like in a few weeks? Do they look like these cut off stubs all summer? I've almost decided to give mail order a try ( I think I got to the page 6 with several already calling out to me). Can someone please humor me by explaining for me? I know I'm missing out on daylilies I want by my fear of cut off stubs.

I was so happy to see nice new, fresh, white roots! Isn't that silly... but almost every division had them. There was almost no damage to the root and crown system. I think I am going to start asking the question... lined out or recently dug. For some reason the lined out seem to do so much better for me - maybe it is just one less thing the plant has to go through... digging, shipping, new soil, new climate... They usually all make it, but the lined out plants really take off and start multipling like crazy.

Chris, Sorry!!! I forgot you were in MI! Burrrr.... I am so glad spring is here, I can't imagine waiting another month! Ack! But then, we did get a hail and wind storm last night. I didn't know it was possible to get ice chucks falling from the sky, when the temp. was 60 degrees! Texas....

Michelle, I'm a noob too, but thought I'd let you know... I haven't received a bad dl yet. Shipments from Marietta's, Singing Oaks and Abundant are all huge and healthy like what you pictured above. More shipments from 2 other vendors are still due in. I'll let you know how they measure up.

justmetoo - I got a bunch last fall/late summer and they all grew new leaves within a few weeks. Here is an example from this year: I planted some Hansens on 3/28:

Here is a picture of what it looks like this morning... Keep in mind, it has only been in the ground one week. You can see from the arrows, all the new growth from the middle, but most of the other leaves have grown too..

Michelle, Quarles (Janet) is a great source for daylilies. She has a good supply of Munsons, too (if you're interested). I ordered from Moon's last year and was very pleased with my plants.

Justmetoo, don't be afraid of the "stubs." New growth happens very fast, and the original leaves you received will die back. Depending on your location, and the location from which your plants are shipped, you could see blooms the same year you plant. (Some people advise you to cut off scapes the first year so more energy goes into the root system, but I always let mine flower to make sure I received the correct plant.) Plus, the sky's the limit when you shop mail order. There's tons of excellent vendors out there.

Just as an update, I got an order from Quarles - did get Mask and Metaphor along with Raining Violets, Clouds of Kisses and Elegant Finale. She added two bonuses off my wishlist, for a nice 23% bonus, plus extra fans! Here are the pictures from that order.

AND I got an order from Moon's Farm - also great daylilies. I got Jenny Butterfield, Emma Tomlinson McHugh, Forsyth Frostbound, Itza Pink Teddy and Neon Pink. Bruce also sent me a very nice bonus plant off my wishlist equaling 27% of my order, plus extra fans of a few that I ordered. Looks like the post on his order has fallen off the threads... but I would recommend them too!
