Topiaried Blue Atlas Cedars Growing Out

cascadians

After black hills spruce and deodars, blue atlas spruce are my favorite trees, then sequoias. Ran across a nursery their last day of business fall of 2005. They had some topiaried blue atlas cedars left, sold them to me for a decent price. Planted December 2005. This spring they're finally starting to grow out. They were shaped as "cactus."

Have any of you ever had a topiary tree that grew out of its shaping? Did it ever look like a normal tree? Read that a normal tree is called a 'rustic.'
