slightly purple needles

hello all, I recently purchased six small (2.5-3ft)baker spruce from HD, today I noticed some had a slight purple tinge on some of the needles which concerns me, is this a sign of insects or disease? I did notices these really almost microscopic yellow things on the lawn and jumping all over the place- probably not connected to my problem, but curious to what they are.Not having much luck with spruce it seems, just replaced an 8ft that I planted last year- but luckily the nursery gave me a replacement. any info appreciated

Colorado Spruce with slightly purple needles and this time of year could be simple transplant shock which it will recover. If the drainage is poor and the rootball is floating in water, that too could cause purple needles.

I wouldn't worry about it unless the needles begin falling off.

I have been watering them-but definitely not drowning them- I dug the holes pretty wide to allow for adequate root growth, I though the root balls were kinda small when I planted them-so hopefully that won't prove to be a future problem. there is some needle drop around the base of some of them-but not a huge amount- I will keep an eye on it. don't know much about the baker spruce but so far I love the color and shape. thanks again

So it appears that Sekkan Suki has a mature height of 30' and Aurea is 20', ==>>> you arent getting it ... they are trees.. THEY HAVE NO MATURE HEIGHT ... they will grow forever ... like forest trees ... [and yes.. maybe in a hundred years.. they will slow down .. but most of us wont be around to find out] if you found height references.. they should be at 10 years .... therefore i would ASSUME... suki can grow up to 3 feet per year???? ... i dont know.. they arent zone appropriate for me ... and this is where the industry fails us on some level ... just trying to bring home.. the growth rate and mature size story ... and will try to remember your name .... and not belabor it again .. OR is probably the mecca of a vast majority of conifer growers in the US ... you ought to be able to turn off the computer ... and go see real live plant in situ .... there was a recent post about such ... but i cant stress enough ... that 'seeing is believing' .... if you want truly unique plants.. rather than just what the bigboxstore or local guy can offer .... Debra, Funny I didn't swing but my two kids did. They had an absolute blast and I'm glad the swing was there. It kept them busy while mommy drooled over the "pretty flowers". That is what my 3 year old calls them. :-) Michelle, Love to meet up next time I'm out that way. Are there any other farms worth a trip to around there? I'm in Greenville, SC. Hi Donna, you may have a good idea. I did cut a tiny circle and then cut snips around it, but maybe just cutting a slit alone will give me more to turn. I do not have extra fabric of the background until I trim my blocks and I don't want to trim my blocks until I'm ready to put it together. Have you ever used glue stick? I'm wondering if I'd be better to have it all turned before placing on the backing? Anything I have to beware of doing that?
