Need help in selection size of urn

I want to plant two urns to go by my front door with boxwood topiaries. What size urn should I use? Is there a rule concerning diameter vs height of plant?

If any of you have something like this give me some pointers on how you made your selections.

Balance & Contrast
Plants should be sized to the pot & pots should be sized to the site. Small plants will be lost in a large pot, just as small pots will be lost on a large deck.

Plants shouldnÂt be more than twice the height of the pot or 1 Â½ times as wide

Simple plants show off an ornate pot and flamboyant plants are showcased by simple pots.

Have at least 1 tall plant, 1 filler and one trailing plant or simply one plant per pot.

Speaking of topiary's I saw this article in Better Homes and Gardens that I cut out about chicken topiaries and how to make them from boxwoods. They were the cutest things you ever saw! I thought of making some in pots to go in front of my chicken coop. HOw cute would that be?!

Thanks for the responses.. The brick is a little bit of a challenge.. "salmon". The "sheraton beige" siding comes off looking a "pink" next to the brick. I am not sure how rust would work! If I had the budget I would restain the siding as well, but that is a project for another day!! I think a stronger khaki might look good.. Maybe I should pick a color for the door that would look good with my dream color for the siding!!

Thank you @gm_tx. I went with standard height, the 5800 series. Counters are Calacatta Vagli that I got a great deal on (prob bc they were 2cm and I bought two thin half slabs which worked since I didn’t have an island.) So happy with how they turned out as I kept doubting my decision (had been debating btwn those and 3cm Imperial Danby.). I’m almost done with the kitchen and will post after pics with the hardware and range installed.

need to know where you are .. big city name ... any septic issue or any other facts.. that will help us help you .. you might also define what you mean by mid sized ... odds are.. you wont be able to dig in the exact spot ... so figure out where you want it.. off 6 feet or so.. in any direction ... ken

I would blow up some balloons that are roughly the size of the pendant you are considering and hang them from the ceiling. I like the pendant you found, but I think you can find something better. Your kitchen does not present as overly industrial, the crown moulding suggests something more traditional. But I see that you like that overall shape based on your ideabooks. Have you looked at Tech Lighting? They have some really cool pendants, one of my fave lighting companies. You can't buy directly from them online, but they provide a list of their online retailers.
