Need help for sink selection for wall mounted faucets
Comments (1)I put a handblown glass vessel sink in my new bath and after about 9 mo or so it cracked. No one would accept responsibility for it and I wasn't going to pay for another, just to have it crack again. (artist said it was installed too tightly, plumber said it couldn't have been any looser or it would have leaked...yada yada.) Since I'd designed everything in that bath to go with the sink, including the wall mounted faucets, and the original sink was quite shallow and not too large, I had a HECK of a time finding a replacement. But I finally found this one and I love it. I love it more than the original sink because it doesn't show water spots like the glass did. I like that it's only 3.5" deep and can also be installed semi recessed if you need it lower. It's 16.9" in diameter. Here is the original, so you can see placement. I don't have a photo of the new one in place but will post a retailer pic. Don't know if it might work for you. My counter is deeper than this one, but I don't remember the depth - not too deep. I can't measure right now but if this interests you, I can measure and take a photo of it in place. Comments (19)Thanks again davidtay; I did about a week ago and the closest I could find that was waterproof and had the most amount of lumens per foot in an rgb led strip was listed below, see link. Based on my calculations it would produce 244 lumens per foot and I would assume that's in white mode, although it's unknown which color temperature. That would be bright enough to not need a separate white led run on it's own switch. I would also need a 12 volt 40 watt 4 amp power supply and a controller. If my math is right at 16.5 feet costing approximately $160.00 add a controller and power supply it shouldn't be much more than $200.00? I wonder if this would work. By the way I have one more cabinet to build then onto the doors. eam Pattern 180 degree Color RGB Current Draw @ 12 Volts DC 3295mA Current Draw per Foot 201mA Water Resistance[1] Weatherproof IP65 Number of LEDs in Unit 300 LEDs LED Type 5050 SMD LEDs per Segment 3 Length 500cm(197in) Lifetime 40000 Hours Lumen 4020 Lumen Max Run[2] 1 Polarized Yes Price Per Foot $14.38 Standards And Certifications CE/FCC/ISA Approved/ROHS Compliant/UL Listed Strip Width 12mm Suitable for Vehicles Yes Total Power Consumption 39.5 Watts Type Flexible Light Strips/High Density Operating Voltage Range 9~14.8 VDC Wattage per Foot 2.5 Watts Wavelength 470 nm/525 nm/626 nm Wire Length 48.26cm(19in) Dimensions: 500cm(196.85") x 1.2cm(0.47") x 0.275cm(0.11") Here is a link that might be useful: Superbright led rgb strip...See MoreDesign question 1: please help with faucet selection?
Comments (7)Have you seen both of these faucets in person? I assume you would get the same finish in both? At first glance, they do look different but I think that is just the pictures playing tricks - like they are slightly different colors and the bottom one looks chunkier, however, if they are the same, and you have seen them in person and they do look the same exact one is just shorter, than I think you can certainly use them together. IMO, though I wouldn't want to sit in front of a faucet that was 12.5'' tall. (Test for yourself - sit somewhere and hold a ruler up in front of our face about 2 feet away - I did this at my desk and it wasn't so bad, but then when I thought about sitting at counter top height - I'd feel like I was blocked from seeing the person preping the meal but maybe it is just me.)...See MorePlease help me pick my faucet and sink!
Comments (13)I've had my sink now for 5 years. I love it and so does everyone else who comes into my kitchen. It's upmounted so it's a bit high (no bending) and also pulled forward so I get right up against it. It cleans beautifully with barkeepers and drains well. I have a sprayer and feel one is needed (in whatever form) for this sink. Hand swishing doesn't cut it. I only have 1 tiny ding on the bottom but it's my fault as I just got a sink grid. That has been fabulous (I thought I'd hate it) as it keeps things off the bottom. Even with the full rim exposed (because of the upmount) not a mark on there. We have an apartment with 1 y.o. a stainless sink undermounted in marble. It's also 30" single bowl -- same size as the Shaw's. We alady have 2 dings on the inside of the front rim of the marble where DH hit a pot. Stainless is great. Mine happens to be a few inches deeper than the farm but I don't think quite as comfortable. If I could have afforded to replace my sink cabinet (we just painted) I would have gone with a farm sink again. But our sink base wouldn't work with one. I've been on this board a long time can't remember anyone who didn't like their farm sink. Offhand don't recall anyone who ever switched one out. Heard very few chip stories, perhaps one cracked sink in all these years. Durability doesn't seem to be much of an issue as the Shaw's are made to last. Hard to think of any other kitchen feature as heavily used and so positively. Perhaps other owners will respond but I've always found it to be a ditto-fest when they do....See Morechispa
