HI Mike....
here is a picture of my tc's
the top one is red a dark red.
the next is a dark pink/fuchsia.
the third one is yellow..it's a dark yellow/golden
the other little one I was told is purple, it has a bud now so soon I will know....
and the one on the bottome is white....
pictures don't show true colors...but theses are close...
you know I have always been told that the tc's and cc's need cool temps to bud up and bloom...I always leave mine outside until it is about to freeze and then I move them to the garage the tc's boomed already and the cc I just got in the house yesterday and its budding up..I will post a picture later when you can see the buds....

Mike, Your TC does not look yellow to me. Almost looks like a cream color with highlights of pink.

TC does not require cool conditions in order to bloom. Mine stay in the house with the warm temps and bloom every year. I believe mine bloom based on the duration of sunlight which decreases in the Fall.

Mike, your TC looks white w/pink hue. All alleged white TC/CC have pink. I sometimes wonder if there's a true white or yellow.

Was it purchased as yellow?

Emerald, throughout the years, it was said there were two ways to force Holiday Cactus.
One was short days, where you cover the plant w/a black cloth or place in a closet the exact time daily for 2-3 weeks. Supposedly, if the Holiday Cactus was placed in a dark spot 1 min late, it wouldn't bloom. lol

The second option was keeping Holiday Cactus outdoors until first frost.
I chose this route.

Then, a few articles were written about yellow TC/CC by keeping them warm instead of cold.

I'd like to know if anyone has tried this experiment..keeping it warm so it's true yellow.

The closest yellow I've seen was Gold Charm. That doesn't mean there's no such color, of course. Toni

Just Beautiful Mike and Linda!!

Mike, I have flowered mine yellow last year...but it is pretty tricky and very time consuming. They say you can't let the temps go below 68 degrees during bud stage. I had to bring it inside the house every night and put in a dark room and bring it back out during the day. My Yellow one is budding up now...but still very small. I will post pictures once they open. I'll be curious to see "if" it blooms yellow again this year? I've been keeping the same routine with them as I did last year. Wish me luck!

Linda, I purchased this one as purple...but its not exactly the right color I was expecting although, its still a very nice shade. This were also taken from last year...all of mine are just now starting to bud...so it will be several weeks before I see a bloom. Closer to the end of Nov. or early Dec. more likely.

I don't mean to be dense, but don't know what this means.

Not sure why you're asking us, cause I'm sure the pix don't get the colors exactly true to life & you're there in person BUT, to me the upper plant has a forward white bloom, the remainder are pale pink. The lower plant has darker pale pink blooms.

I don't quite recall what/where I read just last week, which suggested that yellow TC are highly unstable & therefore not so viable for the commercial market. That sounded right. (Try searching for Schlumbergeras.com, the site I was reading, I believe it was in the Netherlands.)

But elsewhere in the piece, it also said there is no difference btwn TC & CC & haven't we, (the regulars), ALL learned (by now) that is simply not the truth? (per that GREAT site w/ the line drawings of each type of stem & each type of bloom).

I think they also spoke about keeping things warmer for the yellow blooms, not cooler. Hope something here helps.

Wish I could be of use advice-wise, Mike, but I've never had one of the yellows.

In the pics you posted, the flowers look off white to me.

Capturing color is a tricky thing. I'm at home now & my home computer showed this same thread a bit differently.

In the first pic, what I saw at work as the white foreground bloom looks very pale yellow.

The 2nd pic they all look yellow w/ light pink center except that 2nd left foreground which looks more whitish.

Different enough that I did a double take & thought oh yeah, really does look yellow (very pale, but still).

Very pretty, whatever color it turns out to be.

Linda too, nice display of all those varieties, just lovely.

I can see the light yellow in Mike's pics above just fine. I have a "Llmelight" TC that I received as a cutting in trade, and it blooms very light yellow like Mike's. There's plenty of pink in it. I don't try to keep it warm, and my house is always cool. (60'sF) It is just starting to bloom. I think that if you think about it, often times a bloom on a plant is paler as it ages, and also I think if it is hot then they don't last as long and they are paler. Perhaps the warmer temps helps make the pink coloration paler? I've never done this experiment.

It looks like a pale yellow Mike. I do not know the name of most of my collection because I usually just pick them up in the grocery store at the end of the season on sale.

The closet one I have that is a yellow but have hot pink accents is this one that is starting to open. I do not treat it any different than my others. They go outside in the summer and come in when we start to have night temps at 31.

Marquest, I love that color, I've never seen a bright yellow with pink in the center. Just beautiful! Looks like a cross of some sort.

Pug...Your TC looks yellow. True yellow. Can't wait until your buds open this year. I'm curious if warmer temps make a difference. They certainly did last year..

Lot of work bringing in at night, and taking out the following day though..lol..

Thanks guys. As I said I do not have a clue of a name. I only brought one CC with a name the rest were half dead rejects really cheap on sale at the grocery store. I like the surprise when they bloom. LOL. My local grocery put them on sale for 99 when they are no longer blooming.

I do not know where they get their plants from but they have the best most unusual plants that you would not expect to find at a grocery store.

You know what I am thinking this hot/cold thing might have something to do with color. My flower looks like aseedisapromise's the colors are stronger. Maybe I have "Llmelight" and it is the temps it is being grown that intensify the color.

It opened today this is a pic. I turned the flash off, I have a Nikon SLR camera. I have not done any photo minipulation..... It has very vivid strong color. I will post a pic as it ages and we can compare how much lighter it gets.

I kept this one much warmer than the others. One side did open a more peachy color, but that side was closest to the walls of the greenhouse. The other side was facing center of the greenhouse where it is always warmer. It must be difficult for those that live in cooler areas to bring them to this color without sticking them in a location that stays above 70 every day, sheesh.
Thank goodness for my greenhouse.

Thanks Micki! It seems that many here don't have your run of the mill colors, but many vary and are rare if not darn right beautiful! I must say the ordinary colors posted here are also quite vivid. Love them all.

Paul I did not think of it......but you are right. What I thought of yellow really is orange. I was looking at it as a dark yellow.
