Can somebody tell me

What are these 'things' I found in the soil of my cutting? They are covered with a membrane when I squeeze it and than another one and the center is gelo like.

Looks to me like the larva or eggs of some critter.

It looks like the medium they use for moisture retention.. Kind of like the stuff in diapers ..

Perennialfan, Most wisteria leaves are identical. Every variety. Some wisteria vines grow differently, I think the japanese will twine clockwise, and the chinese counter clockwise. You will not really know until it flowers, which will probably be in 8-10 years. That is why most people don't grow them from seed. But, if you are a patient person, when it blooms, you will know better what variety you have. Personally, I would buy one that is already flowering at a nursery, they aren't expensive at all.

It feels and sounds like porcelain. It makes that lovely porcelain sound. It belonged to my dear Mother in law and she collected lot's of asian pieces. When I say "lots of asian" I can tell you everything they owned is asian or asian inspired and (Lord rest her soul) I've been selling this stuff for months! As for the 4.99 starting bid, from my experience on ebay I have learned: perceived value and actual value are two different birds. We may perceive something as valueable, ie, the age, the quality, the make, but ultimately the market will determine it's current value, BUT only if it's listed correctly! I was thinking along the same lines as Kylie. That it looks like something that usually is added when I buy plants.

What kind of soil did you use? I would just keep and eye on it but I think it is not harmful. Well....unless the cuttings stay to wet because of it?????

Did you use the miracle grow moisture control?

They put something like that in it.

Beads or something. I don't use it because someone in here told me not to.

But, it DOES look like the geletin that is used with some of those grass seads. I bought this "idiot proof" grass seed where you water until you see "diamonds" (the glittering geletin pieces)

check the bag you bought.

Hey, if it works, let us know, ok? I'm betting that it would be GREAT for "potted" brugs that are always thirsty.

Looks an awful lot like slug eggs. Were they kind of clumped together? Is so it's likely eggs, if not maybe they are moisture beads.

Karyn, I think you are right!!!! My first thought was moisture beads but they were all together not spread. Then I thought if they are eggs why are they so clear? Looking at the pictures Karyn sent, it's 'clear' now what they are. Yuck. Yuck.
I used peat moss from the same bag on all my cuttings I received from SS but I did not see it on the others. Now I have to check all of them. Imagine these creatures crawling allover my house. I do not have a GH so I use my spare bedroom for my cuttings and seedlings.

Pat, Looks like slug or snail eggs to me too. Water crystals aren't perfectly round & fertilizer pellets aren't soft. In a few days you might be able see the baby whatever developing inside. Or just smash them all. Gross!

One more wired thing... Last night I put some of the eggs on the top of a plastic container. Inside I have some fig cutting I am trying to root. This morning when I looked at them I saw they have attracted a lot of condense under them.
All the clear beads you see in the picture is water under the lid. The eggs are not as big and clear anymore ,they are dark.

Even if they'd hatched inside they wouldn't have strayed far from the plants or they'd have dried up.
