Welcome Denise, You sound like me & a thousand other gardeners. Just can't pass up a cutting or seed head. I never know what I'll do with these when I get them rooted or germinated. My yard is full but still I propogate. Can't help my self. You will enjoy this forum.

Hello, I live near Columbia, South Carolina and I'm also a newbie. I've had a feeder up all season and am growing lots of hummer-attractive plants. I used to see just one mated pair in the garden, but now there are several others. They fuss with one another like crazy -- their bickering reminds me of Ralph and Alice, it's so comical (oops, did I just date myself?). Is it possible I'm seeing babies raised by the original pair, or is it more likely the newcomers are heading south?

Welcome Gail, glad you jumped in and joined us! I lurked for a long time before posting and enjoyed it but it is way more fun to be involved. I'm very sorry to tell you, Amigo, your plant is very sick. This is something I saw on another epiphytic cactus on this forum recently. It is a very contagious and deadly, fast-spreading fungal infection. The only remedy is to cut off all *clean* parts and dispose of the old one, soil and all, in a tied plastic bag to prevent spread. If you intend to use the same pot, you need to disinfect it first. It is a jungle cacti and will do best in a mix of orchid bark, long fiber sphagnum moss and perlite. (Perlite needs to be sifted to remove fines and harmful minerals, also needs to be rinsed). I am sorry for my short sentences, I am not sure if you are fluent in English so I want to speak clearly. maybe we wI'll need to figure out what ingredients are available near you if you cannot find these I have listed.
