Conflicting Info; Do you fertilizer new clems?

Hi All-

I am confused. Is it advisable to fertilize clems the first season they are in the ground? I was told to wait until the second year but I just read that you should fertilize with something like Osmocote or any other slow-release fertilizer. I want to give my clems the best start. Before I planted I put a couple of tablespoons of bone meal in the hole. Is that enough? How about Epsom Salts? Please clear up this matter for me so I can proceed to treat my clems with what they need.

Thank you,
