Congrats to you! I also received a Meyer from 4Winds today, they look like they might be cousins :-). Don't rely entirely on the water meter, I've had bone dry soil with my citrus leaves wilting and the meter says it's fine! What kind of soil are you using? Also wondering what kind of supplemental light is in your picture, does it throw much heat? Just wondering if it isn't a bit close to the leaves, although I know pictures can be deceiving? i dont have a moisture meter, but 50% sounds too wet to water again, and letting it dry out completely will stress the tree and cause its leaves to drop off when you water again. it's a bit of a judgment call, depending on the mix, the weather, temps, etc. i would guesstimate for summer time, about 20% and winter time 10%.

from the pics, the mix looks like it has good drainage.

what type of bulb is in the lamp? an incandescent is no good as it converts most of the electricity into heat. a high wattage compact fluoresecent (CFL) will provide more light than heat per wattage. also, try to move it to a south window. coming from an outdoor nursery setting and into a house, if it doesnt get enough light, it will drop its leaves, like when people move their citrus indoors during the fall.

I wwould also like to congratulate you on your new tree. Since I have has no prior experience with any citrus trees I figured that I would use the same mixture that I use with my succulents/cacti. What I did is I took a back of Miracle Gro Citrus/Succlent Mix dumped that into 5 Gallon bucket and added about half a bag of perlite give or take ( I know it looks like a lot of perlite in the picture I didn mix it good enought and a lot of the perlite went to the bottom of the bucket or in this cast the top of the pot!). I too noticed that the light was really close to the leaves and have since moved the light farther back. It is also a relatively low CFL bulb (Approx. 26w) and becaus of this it doesn't give off a lot of heat.

Tommorow I plan to place it out side on my pouch (if the weather is warm enough here) and when I bring it in during the fall I'll probably put it under my seed starting lamp which has a lot hight wattage and lumen rating. If you look at the first picture you'll see the light from it coming up thought the wire mesh if the shelf. Currently it's occupied by my vegetable seedlings otherwise it would be there right now. As for the moisture on my moisture meter the water is marked by tens and once it goes to about 3 or 30% the color above the numbers turns red. Would this be a good place to start watering

Hi Carl, apologies if you already know this, but easy does it with the sun for the next 2 weeks... the roots need to get acclimated so to speak, they're not up to the demand that full direct sun requires. I'm keeping my Meyer out of direct sunlight for 2 weeks, might keep it in shade the first couple days, then brighter, indirect sun. Then I'll start giving it some dappled sun after the first week, gradually increasing the time as long as the leaves aren't showing stress by wilting. Keep close watch on the leaves...a 3 rating on the meter might be OK for now but train your eyes as well as using the meter, you might (or might not) adjust the reading later when the roots are established.

Thanks for the advice. It was fine in full sun outside today but when I move it out tommorrow I'll make sure to put it in a shadier location. I've also been check with a wooden skewer as well as the moisture meter and will try and develop a schedule so I can get into the "groove" of it's watering needs.
