Your landscape looks great. The brug looks happy but get it some friends, lol. The banana bloom is cool. The plumies also look great, something else I would like to try to grow.

You folks are great!! Thanks for the great suggestions! The field beside me is corn and the farmer does his spraying in the spring. But it doesn't seem to affect the butterfly population because I still see them flying over my house many times a day. I have told different people that I'm going to put up a sign that reads, 'Butterfly Crossing' because they fly the same path all the time. I have a pond nearby (with frogs-they jump into the speedwell and eat the cabbage whites) and 2 birdbaths, stepping stones for sunbathing, and full sun. I think one problem could be that the plants are not grouped together. I have for instance 2 clumps of shasta daisies in different sections instead of together as 1 large clump. I also have a birdfeeder in that area, but have never seen the little song birds go after the bf's. I've planted butterfly weed twice and each time it never came back the following spring. Oh well, I'll just keep trying things. My hubby said I can make a new sunny bed so I'm definitely going to try some of your suggestions in that one!! Thanks so much!!

My baking stone won't stop smoking!

Thanks for your questions. I have read and reread the dos and donts about care of the stone so I did not use soap. Also, I did use cornmeal when I baked the pesto pizza when I used the stone for the first time. When I baked the bread (three loaves) I used parchment paper on a baking sheet and placed on the stone. It seemed like a little much to me but I went by the bread book instructions. When you suggested that something else may be going on maybe that is the something else. I will say that pesto pizza did have a lot of oil but that should not haved smoked for long I wouldn't think. If anyone has an idea about this I would appreciate hearing. In the meanwhile, I will leave the stone in the oven the next time I use to see if it smokes without the baking pan with parchment paper on it. Thanks again, Bev

I don't know why you allowed this to go on for 5 years!! I could see for the first year of a relationship not being around the guys kids. But after 5 years, 3 of which you lived with him and saw his kids in your home often!! I think it is enough already!!! If this guy is serious about you he should stand up to his ex and allow you at the kids functions with him. Though if you have been together 5 years and he is not doing so and has not married you I see red flags. Sounds like you are good enough to live with and do married things with, but not good enough to bring to his kids functions. I would sit down and have a long talk with him about where the relationship is going and let him know how much this hurts your feelings. If you are a part of his life you should also be allowed to be a part of his childrens lives. If he is not going to allow you to do so then I would honestly leave and find someone else!

I am with you!!! My move is 25 days away. For the past month, I too have decorated, moved furniture, hung artwork, arranged everything in the kitchen drawers, cabinets and pantry. I imagine myself walking in the front door and what I will see as I progress through the house. Oh, and also what I will view through the windows. This is new construction, so there is dirt and a to-be-built retaining wall outside. I imagine myself cooking and the steps I will take, and the direction to turn reaching for things. Over the top OCD, to be sure. But, such fun too. This is my 6th house to build - the absolute last, a two bedroom retirement patio home. But what is life if not to plan and dream and imagine? This SHOULD be exciting and fun... and so what if you cannot sleep. It is just for now. I tried thinking of other things, but the house creeps in. I tried stupidly counting sheep, but the house creeps in. So I just go with it. At least I doze some and wake up with a smile, despite the yawns and red eyes...

NOID or not it is just Beautiful!!! No Brug should be "Lonely"...LOL We will have to work on that...Your Plummies are to die for..Everything looks Beautiful!!!!!

Your yard is beautiful. You AG plumie must smell delicious! That banana is so cool. How long does it take for the fruit to reach full size?

Shawn... That banana plant is at the entrance to my side-yard, where I do potting and stuff. I have continually banged my head on the bloom, since it appeared 3 or 4 days ago. I finally stopped and took a good look at it this morning... it really is cool. If you try growing Plumeria, what you will really be trying, is not starting another huge plant collection... you will fail! Once you have one...

Sultry... The Ti has been there for about 3 years. it seems to like that spot, sharing the space with some Dracaena. Morning and late afternoon sun, with the midday shaded by the Mango... more tropical drinks!

Karyn... I can't walk past the Plumeria without stopping to take a whiff... or 2... I thought today, that the AG smells like Hawaii... :). Unfortunately, noid white has no fragrance. Even though the banana bloom appeared so quickly (another hand of young fruit has opened, since this morning), it seems to take forever to get to harvesting size. Probably a couple of months.

Stop showing me pix of your yard..lol. I'm just kidding. I love it..It's just that I am SO jealous, it's so beautiful. My yard is going to be sooo bare soon. Basement will be full of potted plants..DH will be b!tchin, lol. I've really got to move down south.

Your passion for plants really shows thru. Absolutely gorgeous. Seeing the different pics you have recently posted, you must have a magnificent yard. You need to try to do a video and walk us through your gardens.
I just picked up a couple of plumeria rooted cuttings a month ago. Hope they give me some blooms next year. Yours are so healthy looking, and 12 inflos...wow! Thank you for sharing your lovely garden pics with us.

What beautiful flowers you have Bob. I will be sending you something as well. Just can't make any promises as to when since things are so crazy right now. We can't have that brug being lonely, lol. Have a safe trip. I started to write the names down the stems of all my brugs in case they break in the wind but didn't have time to do it.

One day I may do the video, since video and television production is what pays the bills here. Believe it or not, I wouldn't do it right now, since so much stuff in my yard is kind of ragged from all of the storms passing us by, relatively close.

Happy to hear the pups made it okay, Bri. Good luck with them. Can't wait to get that cutting started, when I get home!

The lot next-door is for sale, Daniella. I will hate to see all the beautiful plants plowed under though, when someone builds a house there. As long as I get a gardener as a neighbor, though, all will be good!

Bob, do you know anything about tillandsias? TS Faye blew some 'wild' ones down into my yard from the trees here. They had some tiny flower spikes that are dried up now. Do you know what the common ones here in FL are called? I can post some pics if you need them.

SJN... I had to google Tillandsia, to see what you were refering to! I really know nothing about air plants. Every so often, one will mysteriously show up in my yard, and I purchased one from a local green market, a few years ago. It has multiplied, several times over, and blooms beautiful, tiny red flowers, once a year. I'll take a pic next time... I think in spring. I'll also check to see if it still has the ID tag hanging on it, when I get home from my trip.

Tkanks, Neon... I hope to find a way to purchase that lot myself. All it takes is a bunch of money that I don't have! It isn't actually on the market yet, so I have some time. My neighbor is in his mid 80's, and is having trouble keeping up with the gardening. I help out where I can. The lot is inbetween our two houses, and he would love for me to have it... For a price! He's kind of waiting on me, while I'm stalling. It will break my heart to see it go to someone who will build a house, as it was one of the things that attracted me to my home, 14 years ago.

Its tough typing this stuff with my thumbs, on my iPhone!

Beautiful photos!!!! I showed them to my BF and he said yeah thats what you can get when you live in Florida. I told him I may have forgotten to tell him my sister took me house hunting when I went to visit back in the spring!!!! I may need to get some gardening advice from you and Bri. (My sister lives in the same town as Bri) But anyway she bought her first plumie cutting when I was down there and she is wanting to put it in ground now that it has rooted. I told her I would leave it in her screened area until spring then plant it, but I really don't have any other directions for her. Though it was my plan that when we went plumie shopping she get tired of the plant and give it to me (she is not a gardener at all) But much to my dismay she calls me and gives me the leaf number report about once a week!!! Darn, I lost out on that one!!!

Oh My Gosh! I am astounded at your gardens- looks like paradise! I want to move there- NOW! I thought it was nice here in NC after living in western NY (snowbelt). I absolutely love that Banana tree, how cool is that! I want to encourage you to persue your talent in photo taking, you should get paid for that! Have a safe trip-

Bob, you have actually made me miss FLA for the very first time..LOL I lived in the Tampa area for about 10 years..moved North after my kids were born..

WOW, your garden is amazing..and It would be wonderful if you could get the lot next to you ! I wouldnt want someone coming in and building a house..is your neighbors garden as nice ?
