Persimmon leaf out late no matter where grown. So even in your location this seems early for growth. Give it until it no longer passes the scratch test. You may well not get enough chilling. Only time will tell. It won't hurt to move it now. But persimmon are well adapted to sun and heat. If anything does it in it's more likely the lack of chilling, not heat.

Yeah, I often pick them when they are just starting to turn color and they ripen on the window sill. I would always be trying to get to them before the squirrels. This year is the largest amount of fruit I've seen on this tree. This is only from one branch. There is so much more. Now I see I should have culled some of the fruit before it matured. Some of the lower branches are touching the ground. I can't reach the fruit on the top branches anymore. And I had the tree pruned by professionals this past winter! Hope your one persimmon turns into many in the years to come! That's certainly what happened to me.

My mom has a dwarf cumquat, peach and nectarine tree that were all only about two or and half feet tall and despite their diminutive size, all produced fruit the first year, (though Mom didn't get any because a squirrel got every last one!) Dunno if Fuyu is the same way, though. I'm soo jealous! After seeing yours, now I wonder how I even could have had hope that mine was still alive. After struggling with my own Fuyu frustrations, I can report what I have learned: I can tell you first hand that when it is dead, it will have a decidedly ashy gray pallor and the buds will look more like the knuckle joints on a skeletal fingers. It will look much more... dead. According to my research, the tree can be a bit picky about being moved around, and some have said that theirs didn't even "leaf out" the first year, but did grow VERY vigorously after spending a year acclimating itself - throughout which the owners experienced the same "is it dead?" anxiety, of course. It apparently likes loamy WELL DRAINED drained soil and FULL sun, but hoose carefully where it will live because doesn't care for change. Apparently will take a good long while to recover from being moved at all - to the point as I understood it to be better off left in a pot for a while as yours was over being planted indecisively as mine had been. As mine is dead and yours is not, I think that bears out as true... I had been fussing over an impulse buy of a $12 twig since early spring - I had not planted it immediately because my hubby hadn't finished the work on the spot I had picked for it but didn't realize it was just bare root a bag of sawdust, no soil at all. I hurriedly stuck it in the ground, but it had actually seemed happier in the bag. When the original spot was still not available by summer I chose an alternative in the interest of keeping the tree alive if not ideally located. I was surprised but wary each time it passed the "scratch test" as I was sure I had killed it back in April, but it seemed to actually get a little color and pliability and it had been showing green each time, despite the doubt that compelled me to check. Then about last week - brown and brittle all the way down to the ground where it snapped off crisply. Just when I had started to relax and think it was going to make it, too. Bummer. Poor Percy... Yours looks much more promising. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of some fruit next year.

AS crazy as this may seem, damage may actually take years to become evident after something like that. But if the trunk hasn't broken and it leafs out, I wouldn't worry about it too much, especially if it's only 2 years old.
