Iron woes in my So. Cal. soil

Right now everything is so YELLOWY!!! I have put down iron and I have been mulching with fir bark over pine needle straw. My azaleas, camellias and citrus are all mildly chlorotic. Would feeding them help or hurt at this point. I thought if I could make the soil more acidic with the mulch, then they could use all the iron I put down. The potted citrus, azaleas, blueberries, etc. are fine. It's the ones in my clay based soil that are suffering. I planted the azaleas & camellias in 1/3 azalea mix, 1/3 soil and 1/3 peat moss and for 3 or 4 years they have been happy until recently. I don't want to lose these big wonderful plants. What else can I do that I am not doing now?
