Hi HDD, Lisa, gonzer,stephania and the rest of the Bromeliad forum gang! Doon't get to post much but I do log on often to read your post and view your beautiful Broms.Been busy naturing my babies, posting a few pictures for you to enjoy!!

Those pieces are going to look so pretty in the garden. Nice work! If you can assemble the glass pieces in low humidity you can usually avoid condensation. At least that is what I think happened with a bunch of mine from last year. I wish I had assembled all mine indoors over the winter months as I am sure none would have condensation now. A few have no condensation and they were assembled indoors. I've also found that the ones in the shade had much less condensation than ones in direct sun. It's hard to tell by the photos, but do those containers have drainage for the plants? If not, you may want to pot them up in a plastic pot and set the pot inside the container so you can pour out any excess water, otherwise they will likely get root rot. Or you could drill holes in the bottoms. You may already have done this, but I just wanted to mention it in case you didn't. My heart goes out to everyone that lost loved ones this year.

Great photos, Lauralilly, I too am in Houston (NW) and the only queen I have managed to raise was one I purchased on a milkweed from the Wildseed Farm in Fredericksburg. I have seen them in my yard in years past, but they never left any eggs. Congrats on the Giant Swallowtail. They are fun to raise. I have several rue plants as well as the citrus for them to lay eggs on, but this year they haven't been very impressed with my offerings....at least that I have been able to find. The dadgum wasps have been patrolling all over for any egg or cat of any species. Thankfully, the monarchs are finally getting ahead of the wasps (or I have managed to kill the *&%^*#@ ones that have been eating my babies. Best of luck to raising them to adulthood. Mechelle

Hi Mollie, You may want to consider a camel or wheat tone to go well with what you have described in your room. That would compliment the red brick and the cherry tones you would see in the kitchen AND the medium oak table (you mention it is large) so make sure the paint tone blends nicely with the wood color of the table and chairs). This color will go well with the pine floors you have now but should also be very nice if you opt for a richer tone in the future. This range of wall color should be very nice with all the various colors in your carpet and the blue will just become a small accent. Have fun!

He is so precious. I'll admit it; I'm "partial" to little boys. Not that I don't love little girls equally. But boys are such a hoot. Nothing is sweeter than a little guy about 4-6 (except Grant at every age!) And once they hit 13-14; they are so entertaining. One minute they're "all grown up, ruff and gruff he-man," and the next they're wanting to sit on your lap and be little boys again. I'm missin' my "little" nephew now. He's 22, 6'2", and just got married. I called him last week and sang the "Barney" song with him. Then he asked if I'd been drinking! LOL (No; I hadn't.)

Which variety of A. chantinii is that in the first picture - is that what it is? It has really distinct stripes - very beautiful.

Make that two Mike's curious about the Ae. chantinii. It looks like one that Michael was trying to build up some stock of (i.e. $$). You've got quite the brom-scape going on!

Rumor has it the Bromeliad Society of Broward County is putting together a mini-extravaganza next year for their biennial show/sale. Maybe you and the Bahamas crew should check it out!

treehaus, the Ae ebony is an offset from one I purchased from Michael's a year ago, It is growing in bright sunlight. HDD the mother plant has not bloom yet, but it is quite large.
