Pups question...and proud parent of a common 'child'

Am I right in understanding that if you remove pups from a parent Bromeliad that this will encourage the parent to send out more pups? Is this true for all Broms in general including Tillandsia?

I have A. fasciata pups just now going into bud . I didn't even realize they were doing anything until yesterday as the mother is still alive and very healthy. She was blocking my view of the pups so I cut back some of the overhanging leaves to give the pups more room... SURPRISE! I know that A.fasciata is very common but they are still a nice plant and I'm well pleased .She has 4 pups and now I guess I'm going to either have to seperate or repot into something ALOT bigger !

Thanks in advance for the help

Martha
