It is really not an Enablee Bed without at least one selection provided by Patrick. He is perfectly suited to provide his form of assistance for SDLM and others.

Pink Gruss is a good one, Len, I had forgotten about. Sorry I forgot to mention my alkaline soil, so polyanthas are pretty much out.

Sorry, but I do not know most of the roses you listed except by reputation in some cases. However, I am ordering MRs. John Laing for spring. I wonder if it will fit in well--it has a very different shape than the Austins--more upright and narrow, with big fat heavy buds/blooms--none of the Austin grace. I can't quite see it in there, but then I may not be seeing your vision of this bed.

If you want a shorter lemonade-colored shrub, take a look at Austin's Anne Boleyn. At least the color looks lemonade-like to me--well, maybe pink lemonade. I've had it only one season, so can't say a lot about it, but I do love its delicate pastel peachy pink-lemon creme colors.

I might invest in a number of daylilies sprinkled throughout the bed. There are so many now in lovely shades of pink with yellow highlights--and many of the newer ones re-bloom--not heavily, in my experience, but they do rebloom. Their leaves make a nice contrast with roses also.

Can't wait to see your spring pics of this new bed. Sounds yummy!

len511 mentioned floribundas--what about Our Lady of Guadalupe (sp?). I've often been tempted by it--very floriferous, supposedly continuous bloom, lovely light pink. Have heard many good things about it. Maybe even a couple or three of them, spaced periodically down the line.

Floribundas often put on a good show for a front yard.

Because it's a small bed and because you probably want great repeat in the front of your house gruss/pink gruss was the first rose i thought of. Then SDLM but maybe even better her sport-Souvenir de St. Anne-instead.

I think you are too far north to grow chinas so i will not suggest Hermosa.

RdR leans towards fuschia rather than pink lemonade. I like to vase it with JC-pretty but short lived.

My two cents, since I can't advise you on large roses, just minis:) My dwarf daylilies rebloomed all the way until the first of this month when the guy who mows the lawn, got in my flower bed & 'trimmed' them down. He got trimmed down too:) He's lucky he left the roses alone, he might be recovering in the hospital for Christmas, LOL* He was told to stay out of the flower beds. Anyways, these were yellows and pinks, I found the large repeat daylilies didn't last this long, they quit about Sept.

Granted you're totally different zone but you may still find the dwarfs rebloom better and longer than the larger ones do no matter where you live. A season is a season. My dwarfs are still a respectable up to 2' tall or so. If you haven't been there you might ask around on the Daylily Forum.

I love the idea of Anne Bolyn in this bed. I have had her for 2 years now And she is adorable and in frequent heavy bloom. She stays on the petite side too, and her flowers are fragrant. One of my favorites and truly a pink lemonade color...what a lovely concept!

Just to be silly, there is a rose called Pink Lemonade. It's actually a very nice rose with a fabulous fragrance.

My SDLM stays about 4 feet tall and 3 feet wide, my zone differs. Mine likes to bloom in the fall rather than summer and I have it in a morning sun only space. I expect Mystic Beauty to be the same, mine is still in a pot. I love the name Pink Lemonade~

Our Lady is a great pink floribunda, IMO.
Also, take a look at Summer Fashion. Palatine has it. It was a box baby when I bought it a kabillion years ago, and I really like it. Might not be enough yellow for you, but check it out. I love Marchesa Boccella. It topped out at over 6' for the first time this year, but can be kept cropped down (it usually ranges 4 - 5 feet). OLoG and Summer Fashion are in the 2 - 3 foot range for me.

I am suffering from an abundance of good ideas. I like Anne B a lot. With the other 3 Austins, I fear what if I can't grow them well? Austins sound a little tricky for some. I like the OLG suggestion and the Pink GaA too.

I actually like Pink Lemonade too but it does not seem to be widely available. Also Summer Fashion is very pretty but I don't think I can do Palatine because of my alkaline soil. It made me think of Chicago Peace, which I covet, but it might be too tall and not repeat enough??

How many Floribundas do you think I can fit in a 8x15 bed with Scepter'd and 2 Happy Childs? I will sprinkle the daylilies around like Kate suggested and Thank You, Terry, I will contact you by e-mail.

Buck's Quietness, HT which grows like a shrub, wider than tall. Will cover itself with large pale pink blooms, a great garden rose. Have you had probs with polyanthas? I grew Perle d'Or and Marie Pavie in Dallas with no problems at all other than they got SO big so fast..! Oh, Caldwell Pink is a polyantha that should be OK in alkaline soil-- it's widely planted in Texas. I love your idea for this bed. Pale yellow: Prairie Harvest, Julia Child.

Alfred de Dalmas is a small, pretty moss rose that I have. It's a new rose from a band but bloomed nicely in the first year and is pale pink and fragrant. The blooms don't last terribly long and the rose is thorny, but it's small and an old rose, and very charming, I think. The heat this summer didn't bother it a bit.

Silverkelt. I had decided against Anne. Now I have to reconsider! All of these sound and look so good. It will be very hard to choose.

redsox, as to "how many" the answer is it d- (wait for it) -pends! Not all floribundas have the same growth habit or size. OLoG and Julia Child stayed small for me, Hot Cocoa (not on your list, but floribunda it is) can get to 6' tall. Once you have a list of potential candidates, then we can tell you how many will fit.

OK, Diane...I know I need to be more specific. Do you think a small bed like this looks better somewhat symmetrical, like 2 Julia Childs, etc, or more interesting with one of this one of that. I know that is personal taste but I have never designed a real bed before. All of my other beds are just a row along a walkway.

Myself, I would pick one rose to form the "backbone" or focus of the bed--maybe 2 or 3 Julia Childs (to take one example) spread out the length of the bed. Then mix in other colors, one each, for variety. But as you say, it's really a matter of personal taste.

I'd guess you need about a 3 ft space for each floribunda. But like Diane said, depends upon which rose you pick. Basically go by the width listed for each rose--that's about the space you need for it.

Irish Hope would look good with Julia Child - it's a tall landscape rose here in SoCal - good looking, light yellow with upright form. It can be found at Heirloom and somewhere else but can't recall where. I love mine as it blends nicely with most all colors and the pink lemonade theme you have going is going to be gorgeous. Scepter'd Isle would be your best for pink and would be really compatible in front of Irish Hope.
