To transplant or not to transplant Jeri Jennings

Jeri Jennings, the hybrid musk, of course--not the rosarian.

With hot summer approaching, I'm not sure what to do with my Jeri Jennings. I ordered two--one went directly into the ground a month or so ago and hasn't done much, but looks healthy. The other one went into a pot since I didn't have a bed dug for it yet. The one in the pot has put on new growth and had one bloom--so cute and lovely, golden yellow with an peachy/apricotish blush.

Well, the new bed is dug, and now I'm not sure if I should plant the potted one now or wait til fall. Our temps for the next 10 days will be in the mid-80s, maybe even high 80s at times, and July is just around the corner. In most years, July and August are hot, hot, hot here--many days in the 100s. But this year has not been typical, weatherwise, so I have no idea what to expect.

So what to do? Plant JJ in the new bed and give her lots of TLC, or re-pot into a larger pot and wait til fall? I've never planted in the fall so I have no idea of the pros or cons about fall-planting in my Zone 6 (Kansas).

Appreciate any advice.

Kate
