Comments (59)No, I will be joining Central Florida Rose Society bec at least I can attend locally here and meet other rosarian. They are affiliated with ARS. Meeting is every first Thursday of the month but I have been missing it last couple of months. I did not consider about spacing at all until I read Bart' s thread sorting big teas and small. From Cori Ann who designed her garden and Sheila who showed how she did her teas and matching companions, how she did her garden design and she did it brilliantly with love. I think she must be a designer , a rose Whisperer . I can go on and on ....Lisa, Marlorena, Carol, Chris, Nik , Jeri, Virginia, Ingrid etc....Hey, I remembered ball the names...lol They inspired me and I end up googling and reading more. I am all game if anyone wants to suggest a book. I am sure I am going to make tons of mistakes but I got started the ball rolling and we will see how it rolls. It will be challenging I am sure since I just got into it but I know all you guys will guide me and corrected my mistakes. So, I pick a rebuild, now maybe I have to do fence (DIY). That was my fence money i budget for January. On a rental now till I get my car back in a week's time (hopefully). Thank goodness I did my Christmas shopping. Jin...See MoreBaby ‘Jeri Jennings’ rose has two blooms!
Comments (17)I know, right? I felt like I had to have this rose because it’s named for “our” Jeri. I’m doubley glad that it’s such a beautiful rose! I can’t wait to see those rich yellow colors on mine, Jeri. I was amazed at how fragrant these first two blooms are, especially with how hot and dry it is. I have a feeling I’m really going to enjoy having Jeri with me every day. She’s only going to get better with age, just like her namesake :). Lisa...See MoreA question for jeri jennings
Comments (12)Oh, "Durst Plot" is 'Sutter's Gold'. An appropriate rose for that family, and probably planted there not all that long after its 1950 introduction. https://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=2.6139Isn't it the most remarkably lovely thing? This is the same cemetery where we found "George Washington Richardson" now identified as a match for 'Mlle. de Sombreuil'. I have speculated that the 'Sutter's Gold' might have been the climber . . . but I don't know for sure. But as to the tree-like habit, we have seen any number of very old Tea Roses that have grown to be trees. And, of course, a few other modern HTs. I used to hope that seeing such things would convince people that, in the right conditions, these roses can grow to be huge -- and to NOT all need harsh pruning. So far, not much luck. For instance, this was 'Jesse Hildreth':...See Morejacqueline9CA
