Placed my last order for spring...seriously...I think...

This fall I have been on an ordering spree!! I think I have close to 40 roses now ordered for next spring...not to mention the 7 I have coming from Pickering this week! I just placed my last order from Rose Petals Nursery...or at least I promised myself it wold be my last order for Spring! In three-ish years of growing roses I've accumulated almost 250 roses...maybe I'm a hoarder...but can you be a hoarder & only hoard one thing?? LOL...who knows! But anyway...here's my "last order"

Wow that's a lot of roses u got!im ordering for spring planting too to replace my hybrid teas ,bow bells is actually in my wish list it looks very pretty on the catalog but I don't know if it will do well here in Maryland .anyways have fun !i am excited myself for spring planting.

Wow! You must have a lot of space devoted to roses...if only we had a bigger backyard, I'd just keep adding to my wish list like that! Hopefully the fall weather holds and you can get your new ones in the ground and everything in readiness for when the big orders start to come in spring

rouge21 Thank you for the link. I was not expecting big things so whatever I get I will be satisfied. The first one I got did not survive the winter. This is being sent as a replacement for the one that died so this one is free. aachenelf When I say visualize. I have pics of my gardens for each season. I look at those pics and think about what they might need or if there is a void in certain spots that I can add something to give it a boost. I have 4 acres so I have a lot of space. I have put in the bushes for structure now I am adding some flowers and foliage plants. mxk3...LOL I have had to put myself on a budget now that I am on a fixed income. That disposable income I had when I was working is not there now. diggerdee, You have to get going. Come on order something. I do not want to be the only crazy winter bird one. I do not think I will ever say it is my last order unless I am 6' under. I will probably ordering plants on my death bed. I do not like ordering too many plants online. If I can get them locally that is my first choice. The bulb selection online is always the best.

Thank you Ingrid! My only wish is that I could fast forward a couple of years to see what it will all look like. Perhaps you could be convinced to visit this spring when Chambersville Tree Farm and Heritage Rose Garden has its dedication ceremony. It is one of the HRF's gardens and hosts more than 145 roses. Connie will be here, and Ogrose and I were just talking about how great it would be if our California friends came for a visit as well. The roses should be in full swing at that time. Josh

I would have a jungle if it would stop freezing. From 1994 to 2009 we had less than 1 hr of freezing weather in Rockport, so I had the most beautiful yard. My yellow bells and tropical shrubs were taller than the roof. Then 2009 we had 3 solid days of freezing weather. I cannot begin to tell you what I lost. Last year I went to Florida, and meet Carol at Florida Colors and replaced all my plumeria and desert roses. Thinking the freeze was just a fluke, I felt we probably would not have another freeze for at least 15 years. Then it happened again this Feb. So their is no jungle. I have switched to tropical hibiscus, and moved away from the Puerto Rico Tropical plants. None of them came back. This year I decided I would replace some of the brugmansia and iochroma plants I lost last year. Maybe next year, I will have that jungle. I am still replacing palm trees right now. Marg, That last order was just the limited speacials. They are sold out I would assume. I wanted to get a few more but all gone. :( Many of the really ruffley, toothy, and otherwise "fancy" ones wouldn't tough it out up here in the frozen north. :) I am, however, already finding myself partial to some particular hybridizers styles. :) I really need a farm! It is fun isn't it :) I'm hoping Bow Bells will give me the look I was aiming for when I planted Austin's Cordelia, but Cordelia blows too fast for me (I'll keep her, but relocate her to a less conspicuious location). I also really would like Austin's Morning Mist, but haven't had much luck finding it.

I purchased Morning Mist from Heirloom Roses this past summer. It looks like they still have it in stock.

stlgal...yes, they are slowly taking over (sort of)...the yard is a little over an acre and so far they're only in the front flower beds and around the perimeter of the back fence...so there's still room for expansion :)

Oho, I am certain you will place another order - bare root season goes on for months yet and all those long winter evenings, poring over catalogues....Oh no, I can't believe you are done yet, my dear - you are showing all the signs of rose addiction.

I agree with campanula, definitely at least one more order in your future! And sounds like plenty of room for expansion, even without uprooting other shrubs :)

I just received my order from Palatine yesterday. Tinenke,Flaming Beauty and Lynette. I just dug a 2'deep hole and buried them till spring!

Lol, and do I seriously believe this is your last order? I don't think so! It's an addiction! From one rose-aholic to another!
