Climbing Rose Recommendation

I know, I know, I'm asking for everything :)

Does anyone have a recommendation for a climbing rose that is large (15'+), evergreen, and easy for a newbie? A very green (but enthusiastic!) rose newbie.

It is intended to cover the ugly side of a stairway and grow up a column at the top of the stairs. I will have a trellis for it. Full, southern facing, relentless sun. Thornless would be nice, but I'll trade injuries for beauty. Also prefer pink, but not picky.

I'm looking to hear and see photos from those with experience with the actual roses. There are plenty of recommendations online. Some seem to fit my needs well, but talking to another person that has successfully grown the rose in this area is another thing entirely.

Also, any nurseries up here that anyone would recommend? A specific contact @ a nursery that has my magic answer?

If nothing else, talk me out of planting a lady banks rose so close to the house. That's where I'm heading and I know that it's the wrong answer.

I really appreciate the input. I lurk often but rarely post.
