Please give me your opinion on these Austin roses.
Comments (6)Tamora is definitely shorter, mine hasn't gotten over 3'. Molineux and Pat Austin will be shorter than Abe and GC. All have great fragrance, you will really love Abe, he is gorgeous. (Randy, maybe that should be your next Austin!) I just planted GC this spring and so far so good but I don't have enough experience to comment on that one. I call Molineux my "color show" rose because it is not just yellow but many shades of apricot, even a little pink thrown in there as the flower fades/depending on the season. Pat Austin is lovely too....See MoreGrandma's Yellow Rose - Your Opinions, Please
Comments (4)Well, I alternately love and hate this rose! When it blooms, it has very nice HT type blooms (no fragrance), but I don't care for the shrub shape.......and it BS's pretty badly (like most everything else here). It is also extremely thorny! Mine was planted in the yard and I was going to get rid of it so I dug it up - very rudely - and stuck it in a pot, mostly because I felt badly about digging it up. It then proceeded to put out beautiful new growth and a flush of blooms and it has been in the pot ever since. Here it is, in it's pot: (this is earlier in the year) Sorry for the mixed report! Comments (15)Here in my zone 5 garden, I planted 4 bare root Olivia roses last year, and was MUCH impressed. I have grown over 35 different David Austin roses, and this one endeared itself to me more than the others for its long bloom time, resistance to blackspot, quick growth, nice-looking leaves, and near-constant blooms. It was not for me a rose to cover itself in blooms but of course it was its first year in the ground. I liked it so much I ordered another for this spring. It had a delicate beauty and all the more so because it did not shatter easily like many of the others. Most impressive was its clean foliage at the end of the season.....nearby, Rouge Royale was nearly naked of leaves while Olivia remained fully clothed. I would give it an A+, possibly the best of my Austins....See MoreOpinions on your KORDES roses
Comments (109)Kate, I saw the exact thing on Pomponella at the Columbus Garden of roses which led me to search for another in that color. I'll see how much time I have 4 up keeping such a rose, but I'm getting quite a collection and would like to have only a few that require so much care. Valerie, I found my own route Florentina took a long time to bloom. And its first year last year I didn't get a one, but this year it's bursting in bloom and is sending out huge mature canes now that I finally put it in the ground. It needs a bit of time but as well worth it. Mine is in a Southern Exposure with some light dappling from a redbud tree. I think I'm going to get another one this year so it can actually Bloom by next summer! LOL I have a large garage wall and I'm mixing them in with Phyllis Bide. If those two aren't a theft deterrent I don't know what is!...See Morealotofplants
