I am growing The Faun new this year (from Roses Unlimited). So far I absolutely love it. It has grown quickly and been an excellent bloomer. I have been very happy with it.

I have it in full sun so I'm afraid I cannot speak to a part sun location. However the lady who turned me onto this rose grew hers in a half wine barrel planter very nicely. I mention that in case you might wish to try this and can put your barrel in a sunny spot? Just a thought. Also as you are probably aware The Faun is a sprawler. Very little upright growth, it likes to stretch. Of course it is new so we shall see if the canes become more erect or not. I hope all your roses do just great for you.

Kate, thank you so much for your post and the very helpful and interesting link. I didn't know that it was such a sprawler so the photos were very informative in that respect. It will give me a much better idea of where to place it. It certainly is a gorgeous rose and seems to have multiple great qualities.

You are very welcome. Yes its habit is pretty specific so I'm glad that information helped. I did not do enough research before buying it and was surprised by the way it stretches out with a serious lack of upright growth. I still love it though.

I think you might have me confused with Kate (aka DublinBay). I've never done anything over at Hot Topics but lurk myself but I know that she posts there on a regular basis.

Ingrid, that's a great list of roses. I've so enjoyed my Duchesse de Brabants this season. The one I planted this past spring is doing especially well; it formed a nice rounded shrub, albeit not a large shrub....

Oops, Kate, so sorry, of course you're right, the other Kate is dublinbay. Oh, these senior moments.....Well, it's great to have two nice Kates on this forum.

Krista, I too have been pleased with my Duchesse de Brabant, which is a low spreading bush that blooms a lot. This new one is going to a dear friend who had one in the past (through my enabling) and is now pining for another one in her new home. My only caveat is that I haven't found it to be a good cut flower, but that would probably make it overly perfect. I actually have very few roses that are good vase roses, but I'm happy if they last two days and then I get to go out and cut more. In the cooler weather they do lost longer, and I think the heat spells are finally over. My darling husband planted Mrs. Dudley Cross, Rosette Delizy and Enchantress today, so we've made a good start.
